Butner Federal Correctional Complex: Bernie Madoff's New Home
Breaking News On is reporting that Ponzi Scheme mastermind Bernie Madoff is being transferred to Butner Federal Correctional Complex in North Carolina where he will serve his 150 year sentence for fraud and other charges. While at Butner FCC Madoff will be able to catch up with other white-collar inmates, like ex-CEO of Adelphia Communications Corp. John Rigas, who is serving his 12 year sentence at the North Carolina facility.
FCC Butner is in North Carolina near the Research Triangle area of Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill. The mega complex consists of four different levels of security confinement: FMC Butner, a medical facility; FCI Butner, a medium security facility; FCI Butner Medium II, a second medium security facility; FCI Butner Low, a low security facility. It is unclear which part of the complex will become Bernie Madoff's new home.
