According Bill, a Republican from North Carolina, C-SPAN should change it's name to BLACK-SPAN. Creative, huh? That's what Bill Scanlan was told during a call-in segment to his C-Span show.

It seems as if this North Carolina Republican feels that Black folks are getting way too much air time on C-Span, which is forcing him to want to consider getting his news from someplace else (Fox, maybe?).

Some people may find Bill's comments offensive-- even racist. I'm not sure if he's a racist or not, but there is probably some unchecked animosity there. I mean, sure, he does say that every black person considers Obama to be Jesus Christ...which is certainly obnoxious, and maybe borderline racist. I'm Black, and I have my issues with Obama...but say what you will about his policies, he's a smart man that's more-than-capable of doing the job. On top of that, Bill says that no Black folks like it when Obama is criticized. I'm not sure that's entirely true-- I know quite a few Black folks that aren't impressed with Obama. Are there Black folks that love Obama, or voted for Obama, because he's Black? Yes. Just like the White folks that love Sarah Palin, or voted for John McCain-- did those White folks do that because they were White? Some of them did, yes.

Basically, there are those of us that "get it" when it comes to race issues in America...and then there's the rest of the lot that are all caught up in stupid ego-driven bullsh*t. Both races-- hell, ALL RACES are flawed. And if you want to think that your opinions or position in the world should be based on your race or ethnicity, then...well, you're quickly becoming a minority yourself. And with minority status, comes the stereotypes. I hope you people are prepared for that....
