Update from Neighbours at the end of this story

You know, Police, Fire and EMT officers see things everyday which at times do not shock them. Situations from Murders, Accidents, to Drug Addiction to Pedophiles.  Scenes that would horrify the public, but these individuals march on in Societies hidden wars, while we sleep soundly at night safe in our homes.

This recent crime scene has left many officers so shaken, rest assured even with counselling, they may not be back at work the next day.  This is society, Canadian Society, which plays out every minute of every day, year after year.

The one shining light is a one year old who survived to live another day, and hopefully is young enough not to need counselling until the day it is finally comprehended when in her teens.  As for the Officers involved, one knows they will go home and hug their family.

An uninjured one-year-old girl was the only person found alive in the house, located in the city's Dalhousie neighbourhood.

Calgary Police Chief Rick Hanson told reporters that no suspect is being sought and the public is not in danger.

"As it stands right now, the preliminary indications are that this is a domestic homicide, but of course we'll be looking at any other possibilities that could be involved," he told reporters.

The bodies were discovered by a family acquaintance, said Calgary police officer Kevin Brookwell.

"Someone associated with the family went to the address in what was part of a normal routine of picking up a child for school," Brookwell told CTV Newsnet on Wednesday. "The person... heard the child crying (and) came across the crime scene."

The victims were two children, ages four and six, and three adults in their thirties. Brookwell said police have not yet determined their cause of death.

Calgary police Insp. Frank Reuser said the bodies were found in different rooms of the house.

"None of the deaths were natural," said Reuser. "We've got homicide on the way to take over the investigation."

He did not confirm the genders of any of the victims but said the surviving girl will be taken into protective custody until police can find immediate relatives to care for her.
