Don't that beat all, hijack a plane with 265 people, threaten to throw off the bodies of the kidnapees one by one, sneak illegally into Canada, get a degree in law, apply to the Law society to be a Lawyer, one can only assume to stave off deportation back to India, cause in his words, if he is deported he may be killed for his previous terrorist actions. No Shit Sherlock! Don't let the aircraft door hit you in the ass on your way back to India to face the music.

Can terrorist be lawyer? 1984 hijacker seeks to avoid deportation
By SAM PAZZANO, COURTS BUREAU Last Updated: 2nd September 2009, 5:13am

A convicted hijacker and terrorist who is facing deportation tried to convince the Law Society of Upper Canada that he's rehabilitated and should be called to practise law in Ontario.

Parminder Singh Saini testified yesterday he made a "terrible, wrong decision" when he commandeered a five-man Sikh team that hijacked an Indian Airlines jet with 265 passengers in July 1984.

"I had no legitimate right to do that ... It's not legal," said the now 46-year-old Saini, who graduated from University of Windsor law school two years ago, and was testifying at a "good character" hearing at the law society.

He blamed his youth, ignorance and naivete for blindly following the orders of an extremist student group.

I'll probably get a lot of hate mail for this.... You have to read about the atrocities commited by Govt of India in 1984 against sikhs. They attacked the holiest shrine of the sikhs, and cut of all media. These guys hijacked a plane to bring the news of the atrocities out to the world. They were subsequently arrested by Pakistan. He later got a presidential pardon. Came to Canada, spent 3 years in jail. Finally got out & earned a university degree from York. Finally got accepted at Windsor law school. All the while with threat of deportaion hanging on the head. You have to appreciate what this gentleman has gone through.... Ciao

It is very hard to meet the academic requirements to get into law school.  I would assume that Windsor Law had checked any student's academic background thoroughly before giving that student admission to a law program.  I am not hearing that this individual graduated from a Canadian university with an undergraduate degree, with stellar marks, which is required by all law schools for entry.  Foreign credentials perhaps??Perhaps a degree earned at Canadian taxpayers expense while he was doing soft time in one our federal minimum security "country club"  penal institutions. If only I had known.  I could have convinced my kid to be a terrorist, taught them how to lie to every Canadian government official and gotten a $50,000 law degree and who knows what else, all for free.Oh well, at least he probably won't need a lawyer when he applies to come to Canada, LEGALLY that is, from India.

Thanks for your comments everyone, the NP computer for some reason does not allow me to thank those from my message area, but Jordan is on it.

Barry: Yes! Don't that beat all! Wonder what branch of the law the rehabilitated terrorist wants to enter? Probably civil rights . . . .

No doubt Rory, perhaps if I had my way to take care of em, he should have learned to fly instead of law school!
