Now a political solution

is not likely.  The government

is about to win the war and

will not stop until the LTTE

surrenders,

"We continue to believe that the conflict cannot be resolved militarily and can only be settled through a durable political solution that meets the legitimate aspirations of all the people of Sri Lanka," he said.

"Therefore, Canada supports the co-chairs? call for the LTTE to discuss with the government of Sri Lanka the terms for ending hostilities, including the renunciation of violence, the laying down of arms, and the acceptance of the government of Sri Lanka?s offer of amnesty, as the first step toward an inclusive political dialogue that can contribute to a lasting peace."

Deja Vu. All the politically correct words by non-combatant countries.

Yes.

A cease fire and a political settlement when one side has almost won is far too late.

moonwolf.

To say the least, an interesting comment.

Didn't 108 Canadians die in Afghanistan so far?

Does that mean anything?

Canada alone could not win a military victory in Afghanistan but NATO could if they were willing to commit 2 million men.

My leaders are not in Washington.  My opinion of current and past US leaders are about the same levels as your opinion of them, tho for some different reasons.

I follow no one.

All western countries should have stayed out of Afghanistan and sending a few thousand more men there will invite disaster.

Good comment.

And I agree with that.

We need a fully new world system but the system we have could only be destroyed by violence which would, like Gandhi said, not raise up the type of leaders we need.
