Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Makes one wonder WTF our Government is up to when Ethnic Criminals facing deportation have our Canadian Government fight tooth and nail to keep Criminals in this country, yet a family from Russia face Deportation.

A Law abiding family mind you who are hard working, with a son who is an A Student, a family who have embraced Canada as their country versus many like the Khadrs and many others who view Canada as a stepping stone for criminal or terrorist activity.

Our Government leaders need to give their friggin heads a shake.

The families only disgrace was the father was coerced to work for the KGB and spy on Japanese Businessmen.  (Like Japan, US and Canada do not spy on each other) .

Anyone who has half a brain knows, if you refuse to join the KGB and do their Bidding, you may as well put a gun to your head, cause you will be classed a traitor and sent to Siberia.

All in all this Russian family were open about their past to Canada Immigration when they came to this great, if not politically flawed country we call Canada! Guess not a lot of Russian immigrants vote Conservative or have tons of money, because if this Family came from China, Afghanistan or other parts of the world, Dollars to Tim Hortons Donuts our Politicians from every political party would be falling all over themselves trying to prevent their deportation, including issuing a work permit.

Criminals get into our county almost every day, and our Government officials seem non plussed about it, including the Terrorist Khadr family, whose son is currently in Gitmo.

Anyone who knows how to Google can verify my charges against Canada Immigration and MultiCulturalism Minister Jason Kenney's Ministry and Politicians it seems prostitute themselves to stay in office.

Case in Point- Lai Changxing, also known as Lai Cheong Sing, is wanted in China for allegedly heading a multibillion-dollar smuggling ring, as well as bribing officials and evading taxes. He fled to Canada in 1999, but Canadian authorities have been trying to deport him back to China.

Citizenship and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney confirmed Thursday that Lai has been granted a temporary work permit while he awaits the latest decision in his marathon legal battle with the Canadian government.

Bottom Line People, Who would you rather have as your next door Neighbour?  The Khadr family, An Accused Smuggler and Criminal or Dmitri Lennikov and his family. Certainly a No Brainer Eh! Below is a Facebook page created by the Straight A Students friends to plead for the family to stay in Canada!

Family faces deportation deadline

By Wanda Chow - Burnaby NewsLeader Published: February 04, 2009 3:00 PM Updated: February 04, 2009 4:34 PM

Dmitri Lennikov cringes at the thought of the school project he has due in a couple of weeks.

The 17 year old has to outline what his plans are for the future.

“What is the point in doing this?” says the Grade 12 Byrne Creek secondary student.

Talking about his future is difficult when he doesn’t even know where he’ll be in three weeks.

After nine years of trying to gain permission to stay in Canada, a deadline is looming—his family may be sent back to Russia at the end of the month.

Anyone who wishes to voice their displeasure can contact Jason Kenney at the following address or email.   I sent my email to him this evening. I am pissed!

It makes one wonder what the hell politicians are thinking when they state they want the best and brightest immigrants in this country, must mean best criminals, terrorists with money.

Thanks for this story, Barry!

the reasoning couches a serious lack of fairness. because some one is a criminal does not mean someone else should stay?

and there is no gun waiting at home for those who refuse to join the KGB. working for the KGB should disqualify most, not all, immigrants. your excuse that the person had no choice is like saing an Israeli has no choice in going to Gaza and murderng children.

Every Canadian needs to read the new book McMafia: it details how Canada, through its corrupt immigration system, has become the global centre for organised crime (epicentre is British Columbia). Canadians are at best dopes, at worst complicit in exporting criminal activity around the world. You can see the failure in all of Canada's cities now, as the suburbs mimic France's 'banlieus': hotbeds of crime and terrorist plotting.

Immigration is a great thing for Canada! However, I don't think Canadian immigration policy is a great thing. As a long term resident of a foreign country myself, I do my best to meld into my environment and my children are "normal."

The aboriginal people had a poor immigration policy and they lost their "country"; they "let" all the Europeans in.

Like it or not Canada is a "great" country because of its "western heritage." The ideas and ideals that evolved from Greece, survived the Dark Ages, led to people nailing things to church doors, writings from John Locke, American independence, revolution, secularism, and gay marriage; freedom.

Western thought is a great thing and Canada needs an immigration policy that readily accepts anyone willing to accept western thought and the benefits it derives.  What a step backwards it would be for mankind if Canada abandoned its western heritage.

That does not by any means suggest that Canada should only let white Europeans come to Canada. It does mean that immigrants that are more likely to accept "western ideals" should go to the front. To me that would mean more immigrants from the Philippines, Latin America, and Buddhist regions. Immigrants, without question, have a great influence on the country that adopts them, most of them positive, but Canada needs to seriously consider if the changes immigrants bring are positive or negative. Just off the top of my head, I would say that a change it woman's role in society to subservient would be a step backwards so Canada should be a bit careful about immigration that would degrade the notion of equality.

The gang problem in B.C. is problematic, and it may attract a lot of immigrants but the problem is not immigration, it is market driven. As long as growing pot in B.C. and transporting it to the U.S. remains hugely profitable, there will be powerful criminal gangs in B.C.  The best way to fight the gangs would be to decriminalize pot in Canada, tax it, and use the money raised through those taxes to destroy the smuggling rings.

I will say the same about the Canadian government on this as I often say about the US government.

They need to get their priorities in order.,

A list of 43,600 people who have been deported in the last 4 years exists. But nobody can really say where these people are, inside our outside our borders. The reason given by our "officials" is that Canada checks who comes in but not who comes out. I call it a well managed country. Sound investment of taxpayers money?

In year 2007, 26,000 virgin Canadian citizenship certificates dissapeared. Stolen for sure. And who cares?

About checking who comes in, dont forget that sniffer dogs are no longer allowed because we are a multicultural country. If the suspect says he cant come close to a dog because of his religion we let him in. How proud I am to be a Canadian !

Enough for today. Like many of you I'm pissed !

Thanks for the insight Andre, I remember a conversation when I was with Rev Can and Immigration a clerk (A Chinese National) in our employ as a translator in our High Commission in Hong Kong was detained and arrested on charges of corruptness after visas for Chinese citizens were rampant and many had criminal records, yet we still hire nationals from host countries to manage our interview processes when handing out visas. What happened to this Chinese National who was charged with bribery and other charges, she was shown the door and never spent a day in jail. Probably retired Richer than Bill Gates,  One can imagine what goes on in our other embassies , consulates and high commissions today I wonder?

No KGB in Canada, ever.

He was in Komsomol. Then he rose to the rank of a captain in the KGB. He was not coerced. He served the Soviet empire and was a beneficiary of that system.

He engaged in espionage against a friendly power (Japan).

He must now pay for what he was.

Bon voyage.
