I think Canadians have spoken: they are now a fractured lot, with no common desires or aspirations, thus the minority government. The past 15 years have seen a dramatic change in the population of the country, and there are now no nation-builders: just welfare seekers in a great immigration processing centre in the snow.

Dobbin talks of the dismantling of social democracy. It has been proven in study after study that social democracy and multiculturalism are incapatable. For social democracy to thrive, people need to feel both a connection and a duty to the welfare of others, apart from their race and family. But modern Canada is now very heterogeneous. Without the sense of common duty, social democracy falls apart. It is replaced by fierce individualism, thus the modern Conservatives are thriving.
