Canadian Journalist - Maziar Bahari - Detained in Iran

Maziar Bahari, a Canadian Journalist working for Newsweek has been detained in Iran. This is part of an extended crackdown by Iranian authorities on those protesting last week's Presidential elections.

This crackdown now includes those covering the demonstrations.

Newsweek magazine said its correspondent Maziar Bahari, a Canadian citizen, was detained Sunday morning and has not been heard from since.

Newsweek defended its coverage as fair and called for the release of Bahari.

Maziar Bahari has been in Canada since 1988. He arrived as a political refugee. He has made several documentary films about Iran.

Canadian journalist has been detained in Iran, as authorities extended their crackdown on those protesting last week's disputed election to include those covering the demonstrations.

Newsweek magazine said in a statement its correspondent Mazier Bahari, a Canadian citizen, was detained Sunday morning and has not been heard from since.

The magazine defended its coverage as "fair and nuanced" and is calling for his release. More than 20 journalists have been detained in Iran over the last week.

Bahari came to Canada from Iran in 1988 as a political refugee. He has made a number of documentary films, several of them about Iran.

They're trying to mum us all and it ain't working. I hope the Canadian Gov condemns this act.

The world is one big mess, full of jealous, lying, hateful bigots.....God (if there is a God) must look down and cry at His creation.....man certainly wasn't created in His image!
