A group based on humanitarian purposes, much like the Khadrs, and other groups who profess peace and love, with bombs and bullets.

Thank Christ our Conservative Canadian Government is showing Balls, the previous Liberal Government failed to show time and time again, in what must had been perceived by the Liberals of not wanting to lose the ethnic vote and give group hugs to terrorist groups who would Nudge, Nudge, Wink, Wink as the it seems these groups have been operating in Canada far too long.

Let’s hope this will be more good news, as Canada cannot afford to be seen as a haven for terrorists. Terrorists, who from the safety of Canadian citizenship and in Canada know Bullets from 10,000 miles away, do not have the range to take them out over here, but their terrorist bent over here has dire consequences to those innocents over there.

Toronto non-profit raised millions for Tamil Tigers

Stewart Bell, National Post

Published: Monday, August 18, 2008

TORONTO -- A Toronto non-profit group wired more than $3-million to overseas bank accounts, some of them linked to the Tamil Tigers, before it was shut down by the government in June for alleged terrorist financing, says an RCMP report released yesterday.

The report, marked "Secret" but unsealed by order of a Federal Court judge, provides the first detailed look at the banking activities of the World Tamil Movement (WTM), a Toronto-based group accused of bankrolling Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers guerrillas.

Most of the money, $1.9-million, went to an account at the Bumiputra Commerce Bank in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that the RCMP report says "is utilized as a vehicle to forward money to the LTTE [Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam] from Canada.

" The 83-page financial report is the fruit of two years of analysis of banking records seized by Canadian anti-terrorism police who are investigating a financial network run by supporters of the Tamil Tigers that allegedly raised money in Canada to buy arms for the guerrillas.

"The bank records seized ... demonstrate that the World Tamil Movement has developed an elaborate machine like entity that moves throughout the Greater Toronto Area collecting funds with extreme proficiency," the police report says.

Stockwell Day, the Public Safety Minister, announced on June 16 that his government had added the WTM to Ottawa's official list of terrorist groups, alongside the likes of Al-Qaeda, Hamas and Hezbollah.

The WTM is the first Canadian community group to be listed.

Thanks My friend much appreciated. Of course some may call it racist or anti tamil, as one recent appointee wannabe to the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal would like to limit the press on reporting on anything anti cultural as discrimination taking it to the nth level.

Who are these people in Canada that would support this? Tamils in Canada? guess all terrorists are trying to get financing from the richest countries by sending people there to raise money for them. Undoubtedly there are worse ones than the WTM. Can I guess who?

Thanks Rene for the comments and the flag, you should know it seems these so called Cultural good will funding humanitarian groups seem to flourish under the Federal Liberal Government for over a decade, it is only within the last few years our Conservative Government under Prime Minister Stephen Harper, an ardent anti terrorist advocate has made it his mission to rid them from our country, even though provincial governments here are for the most part liberal and it seems them liberals need them ethnic votes to remain viable. Since the Conservatives turfed the Federal Liberals from power, they have been making it difficult for terrorism to thrive in this country and will continue to do so, despite Liberal whining that it is discrimination, yadda, yadda,

I think money collected should be used for humanitarian causes and not for the enriching guns, arms and  terrorists activities.

Well done, I'm Liberal in my politics  but I do not condone terrorism or raising funds for it. Sri Lanka  is now the first country with terrorists having their own aircraft, paid for by tsunami aid money and smuggled in as tsunami aid!

I raised just over a milion pounds for tsunsami aid and pleaded with people not to give money to the charities that were known to be covers for money laundering and fundraising  for  the Tamil Tigers (White Pigeon etc).  The Sri Lankan government came under such pressure from countries like Norway to give aid money to the Tamil Tigers. Do you think  if they had a terrorist group operating in their country, killing their people and politicians they would give them millions of dollars. Norway's role  in Sri Lanka stinks. Norwegians should be ashamed of their government.

I'm fed up with Liberals standing up for terrorists. Ken Livingstone, the former Mayor of London,  was disgraceful in his sucking up to Tamil Tiger supporter groups to get their vote. He managed to completely ignore the killings of shopkeepers in his area who refused to give money to the Tamil Tiger protection rackets! For more info see  www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-mayor/article-23479694-details/Ken+talks+to+'front'+for+banned+Tamil+Tigers/article.do

I despair of people abusing their power like this. I campaigned heavily to get  Ken out and hopefully Boris Johnson will do a more honourable job.

Thanks Renuka for your comments, money raised for charity should be used for that purpose and no other. The Tamils are way out of line here, and need to be shut down and shut off from any funds
