Canadian woman tells of terror in sky as man sets self on fire
By Barry O'Regan
A Canadian woman from Montreal, Quebec, tells of her eyewitness account of terror in the sky as the man accused of terrorism over the Atlantic sets self on fire during the flight bound for Detroit.
Holy shades of 9-11, if not for the passengers overpowering this terrorist, god only knows the outcome.
It has been said Abdul Mudallad, a Nigerian National, admits to being a terrorist and secondly Abdul Mudallad was previously identified by U.S. Intelligence beforehand, yet was not on a No Fly list.
If this man was known to US Intelligence, many will question U.S. Intelligence in their intelligence who allowed this to happen.
It has been said some of the 9-11 Terrorists were known beforehand by U.S, Intelligence, yet these terrorists still managed to get into the United States.
Luckily for the passengers the explosive device strapped to his leg, failed to detonate, thus preventing a potential 9-12.
In a world where terrorism is a grim reality in our society, many questions remain, such as did man have accomplices within the airport or was security incompetent?
Many North Americans taking flights are checked for toothpaste and shampoo, a big no no to bring on flights, so it begs the question how was this man able to get a bomb strapped to his leg aboard Northwest Flight 253?
If not for the brave passengers who overpowered this terrorist, the United States may have revisited another date 9-12, back to back with 9-11.
With the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver fast approaching, Canadians hope the 1 billion dollar security budget taxpayers are footing will be enough to thwart similar attempts in our country.
In ending, U.S. President Obama will certainly be calling U.S. Intelligence onto the White House carpet looking for answers.
The American public looking to a "Never again" policy should and will demand that heads will roll by those in charge in the U.S Intelligence community and rightly so!
The American public should and will demand that heads will roll by those in charge in the U.S Intelligence community.
Update:
One rumour circulating by old 9-11 conspiracy theorist's on the net is perhaps this was allowed to happen in order to validate a continued effort by those with a vested interest in continuing the U.S. war on terrorism.
Certainly rumour and innuendo have no place, only facts.

Barry: I'm all for going back to the good old days when Americans carried their S&W .38s (or something similar) on the plane and the passengers were dressed in their Sunday best, and the stewardesses were perky and attentive, and grandma and grandpa didn't have to put up with the indignity of having security wands stuck up their butts.
What's really disturbing is that the terrorist was on the plane for hours with an explosive device strapped to his leg and no one on the plane made him. He had to have telegraphed something of his intentions to someone else on the plane--especially any passengers that were sitting next to him. I can be in a crowded bar with the lights turned down low and identify someone that walks in heavy.
People--especially in public transportation settings--need to be more aware of those that surround them.
No doubt in my mind that this guy was a well-connected and dedicated terrorist. Indeed, his timing, patience, and hours-long demeanor was impeccable, in that he waited to set off an explosive device at a moment that would prove to be the most dramatic: A plane filled with 278 passengers right as it touches down in a major U.S. city on Christmas Day. It doesn't get any better than that for jihadists.
God bless those passengers that jumped on the jihadist. But the reality is that had the explosive device worked properly, the passengers would have never gotten a jump on the jihadist. And given the past spiel from the U.S. government, that certain planes exploded in the sky as a result of mechanical failure, we may have never known the truth had the explosive device worked as planned . . . .

Thanks Rory, though I may not be too crazy about all passengers having a Smith and Wesson in a compressurized compartment of a plane at 30,000 feet and if it ever came to be in an alternate reality, they better ban alcohol on the plane first.
I do understand what you are trying to say, terrorism has taken society hostage and until voters take their fingers out of their asses and vote for harsh changes and laws against terrorists and criminals, we will continue to be held hostage even in our homes. But that is the reality of being a righty living in the lefty society, where everyone gets a hug, even child molesters.

Barry: Very few Americans carried weapons on planes back in the day. However, if they felt like it, there was nothing stopping them.
My how things have changed! We're now faced with a brave new world! Back in the day, students that attended NYC public schools no less, and that were in "gun clubs", used to take their rifles with them to school. And the amazing thing is--given today's standards--that they didn't pull their rifles out of the cases and shoot their fellow students.
I think that you've gotten the point of my comment. But, of course, you had the point before I even posted it.
What kind of "advanced society" is it anyway that sinks to the point--and indeed becomes so degraded--that it tolerates and allows a bunch of knuckle-dragging religious fanatics from the Middle East to exert influence over how Americans travel to and fro during the holiday season and whether or not grandma and grandpa will be subjected to a random butt check by those that sympathize with jihadists?
I've said it before and I say it again in so many words: If the majority of Muslims throughout the world are truly peace-loving people and have respect for all faiths and cultures, then they need to take it upon themselves to put the kabash on those, such as al-Qaeda, that are perverting their religion and making a mockery out of it. And don't make the mistake of thinking that the words that roll off the lips of U.S. government officials necessarily reflect the views of the American people and those that currently serve in the U.S. military . . . .

Since when are Grandma and Grandpa being singled out for "butt checks?" I am getting sick of all the phrases" Death Panels for Grannie, and Grannie this and Grannie that. Not enough of Grandpa this and that. Oh I forgot Grandpa is a Senator and or a Congressman. Musn't denigrate him.
At least you included Grandpa in this scenario. So security doesn't include anyone younger thatn 65 years? Interesting. I think there's some age discrimination going on here.

merlingraycat:
This is your question:
Since when are Grandma and Grandpa being singled out [italics added for emphasis] for "butt checks?"
Are you responding to my comments? If you are, then I respectfully request that you rethink your response in light of my comments. Here is what I stated in my comments about grandma and grandpa:
" . . .and grandma and grandpa didn't have to put up with the indignity of having security wands stuck up their butts."
" . . .and whether or not grandma and grandpa will be subjected to a random butt check by those that sympathize with jihadists? "
No where in my comments did I state that grandma and grandpa are being "singled out" [your words] for butt checks.
I used Grandma and grandpa merely as an example. I could have just as easily used the wheel-chair bound WW II Medal Of Honor Winner, the nuns, or the lily-white blond hair and blue-eyed nine month pregnant 30-something American woman that spoke with a southern drawl as an example.
As a result of your thoughtful comment, I'm compelled to undertake extensive research into airport security which will include an extensive background check of all airport security personnel and their families and friends. I'll incorporate my research into a story that will bolster the assertions and contentions contained within my comments to Barry's story.
merlingraycat, BTW: Why don't you post your real name under your real head shot on this site? Do you have something to hide . . . or are you simply afraid?

I agree with Roy: time is long passed to be 'chilled' and 'cool' about muslims on planes. They are a big risk and very few should be allowed on without massive clearance (and even then, their seating arrangements should be made known to the flight crew and marshall). I'm sorry, but my life - and my family's lives - comes first before the 'dignity' of some a-hole student with bomb paint on his underpants.

iffy:
The facts are that virtually all terrorist activity throughout the world today is being committed in the name of Allah by those that identify themselves as Muslims.
But the PC crowd wants us to stick our collective head in the sand, expose our butts, and say it ain't so!
It is so!
If the Muslim world is as peace-loving, as tolerant, and as pure as the driven snow--as it claims to be--then its been severely remiss in its house keeping duties and it needs to clean up its house in order to demonstrate to the rest of the world that it's not in league with the jihadists.
Unfortunately, there is very little evidence to indicate that the Muslim World is not in league with the jihadists.
It's great living in America . . .isn't it? You can say stuff like this without getting arrested, or murdered, or witnessing your wife, daughters, and sons, being raped and brutalized. And the funny thing is that, in America, private citizens are not constrained by the same "rules of engagement" that American military troops are. In other words, if some jihadist attempts to inflict bodily harm on a U.S. citizen, the citizen can respond with deadly force. The irony can (and may) prove to be cruel and merciless indeed.
I stated in a previous comment:
And don't make the mistake of thinking that the words that roll off the lips of U.S. government officials necessarily reflect the views of the American people and those that currently serve in the U.S. military . . . .
P.S. I wonder if the terrorist creep that attempted to blow up the plane in Detroit got a lap-dance in a titty-bar before he embarked on his mission for Allah. Pathetic dorks like him usually do. And its the first time that they've ever had sexual relations with anything other than young boys, girls, and farm animals such as goats.

LOL Rory how do you really feel?
at 15:21 on December 26th, 2009
Nice to see well balanced, unbiased views Rory, you should try making some.
And no, I'm not sticking up my "real name and mug shot" for your edification, after all - for all I know - you could really be called Martha Dingbat, and be completely bald....are you really so naive that you think that what someone puts up is always genuine? So please stop beating your chest about that one.

If I'm wrong, then tell me, point-by-point, where you disagree with my comments.
I'm more than willing to debate you here.
It's a fair fight on an open field and there are plenty of referees.
So let's do it!
BTW: I have no problem with most people using a nom de guerre. But in your case I do. I wonder why that is?
I'm going to check out your profile and bio and that which you've posted to NP. I'll get back to you and tell you what I think.

stejeb: I'm back!
I said in my reply to your comment that, "I'm going to check out your profile and bio and that which you've posted to NP. I'll get back to you and tell you what I think."
I checked you out: You have no profile posted on NP. You have no head shot of yourself posted on NP. You have no bio posted on NP.
But here's what you have: The ability to ridicule and condemn those that disagree with your ideology without even offering an argument in favor of your ideolgy--all under the cover of "anonymous".
If it were up to me, I'd ban you from this site in a heartbeat.

"And no, I'm not sticking up my "real name and mug shot" for your edification, after all - for all I know - you could really be called Martha Dingbat, and be completely bald....are you really so naive that you think that what someone puts up is always genuine? I wrote that on my original comment, please pay attention.
As you have no idea at all what my "ideology" is, I don't really see how you can disagree with it, nor any reason why I should try to argue in favour of it.
What I was condemning were your rantings against entire Muslim world for the actions of a fanatical, but small, and sadly misguided minority. They are not all at fault, any more than all Americans are at fault for the US foreign policies.
I've just sat here and read all your comments again, I'm really sorry to say that I don't see a single thing there that is "debatable", they are just your opinions, and opinions of others peoples opinions, surely the rest of us are equally entitled to form and express our opinion of your statements?
I have seen your reaction to a moderate Muslim elswhere on this site, and saw at first hand how you ridiculed his remarks and attempts to engage in honest debate.
My feeling is that you are a non-muslim version of a jihadist, with your inflamatory and all too often racist and bigoted pontifications, and I would suggest that you are far more qualified than I to deserve "banning"
at 17:18 on December 26th, 2009
ACP: That's the long and short of it! No holds barred!
In all sincerity and honesty, I would like nothing better than for all of my above assertions and contentions to be proven wrong. Moreover, I would like nothing better than for a member of the Muslim faith to demonstrate the error of my ways. I will bow my head in submission and face to the east as a result.
But Muslim detractors must convince millions of Americans, through facts and noble deeds--not through threats and implied threats of physical violence and actual acts of violence, murder, and mayhem--that they are willing to live and let live. Otherwise pigs don't hunt and fly and never will.
And on the other hand, jihadists must keep in mind, at all times, that millions of Americans would like nothing better than to whack them and show no mercy if given the opportunity as a result of the nasty things that Muslims have said and continue to say about Americans.
Perhaps I, along with millions of Americans, are simply ignorant in the ways of the Muslim world. And perhaps Muslims are simply ignorant in the ways of the Western World.
We must all come together, join hands, and celebrate world peace!
To all you Muslim jihadists out there: I know quite a few good-looking 20 and 30 and 40- something (year-old) American chicks. They love me and I love them too! They even laugh at my jokes and it doesn't get any better than that! And most of them never even tampered with their boobs because their boobs were big enough to let be. And it really doesn't get any better than that--does it?
Here's my proposal: If you jihadist guys promise to lay down your weapons and stop saying nasty things about America, I'll do my sincere best to hook you up with all those 20 - 40- something women that love me and laugh at my jokes. I can't make any guarantees here, but if you trust me, I have no doubt that I can hook you up with something good that will take your mind off your terrorist inclinations
I think that all you jihadists out there should encourage women living in your countries to dress like women dress in developed nations. And encourage them to shave their legs, armpits, and the rest of their bodies too. The women in your country are beautiful--and you fanatical religious dorks don't even realize it! You jihadist guys do the same-- namely shave and take a long-hot-bath while you're at it.
You jihadist boys don't have any contact with the opposite sex other than through rape and beatings. Only a putrid little punk rapes and beats a woman. This is the root of your problem. You need to stop diddling your fellow jihadists and start paying attention to women.
Again: If it were up to people like me and the vast majority of the American military, we would give you the same treatment that American forces gave to the NAZIS in WW II.
at 18:07 on December 26th, 2009
What can I say Rory, you forgot the good looking 50 plus women. My God, when you.re on a roll, whoo hoo.
at 05:55 on December 27th, 2009
While I dont want to piss in anyone's cornflakes, your comment on Jihadists taking a long hot bath, is seriously flawed in my opinion. You should know that without soap, a long hot bath does nothing except make one stew in their own filth.
at 19:03 on December 26th, 2009
ACP: Yes! We must all come together, join hands, and celebrate world peace! No matter what the age of the piece!
BTW: My wife is 51 and she looks like she's in her 40s! After putting up with me for 25 years, she probably feels like she's in her 80s. HA!
No matter what their age, women are all beautiful in my opinion! I've said it before: Life would be much easier for me if I were gay. But being gay ain't never gonna happen in my world.
Do you remember that song that Doris Day sang . . ."Que Sera, Sera"?
at 05:57 on December 27th, 2009
I agree Rory. I too can have any woman I want, problem is, too many don't want me, dammit. I wonder what Sarah Palin is doing today? MMMMMMM jello, buggy whip and a car battery.

I am the husband of Shama Chopra and we are very happy to have her home. She is very shaken up but is not ready to second guess security after the fact. Let us see what we can do in the future. The scanners will not scan explosives. What if the next time the Bomber is woman who has a bomb in her underwear or pads ? Then what ? What if the Security Personnel pats her up and she claims sexual harassment...So let us all take a break and rethink. Shama brings an interesting point that hse saw this guy with a hand on his head and he was shaking his head. had it been Israeli Security they would have observed his body language..Raman
