Americans Among 11 Dead in Mexico Bus Crash

A bus filled with U.S. and Canadian tourists traveling in northern Mexico was hit by a tractor trailer on Monday, killing at least 11, and sending about 16 to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the 18 wheeler, who was under the influence of either alcohol or drugs, swerved, and then overcompensated, hitting the tour bus head-on, on a two lane highway near Monterrey.

The latest reports from Mexican media suggested five Canadians were among the dead, including a 68-year-old woman from Caledonia, Ont., a 67-year-old woman from Vancouver, B.C., and a 56-year-old man from Quebec.
The U.S. embassy in Monterrey confirms eight Americans died in a deadly bus crash in north central Mexico.

Another 12 U.S. citizens are in the hospital. The Coahuila state police have just released a list of those injured and the hospitals they are in. (Click here for list.)
