Several hopefuls are gearing up for the coming 2010 Presidential Elections. As expected, a few names came up on top. Expect some these names to be in the final list:

  • Vice-president Noli de Castro
  • Senator Francis  Escudero
  • Senator Manuel  Roxas
  • Former president Joseph Estrada
  • Senator Panfilo Lacson
  • Senator Manuel Villar
  • Senator Loren Legarda

From Arroyo's party the possibles are the current vice president, Noli De Castro and Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro. Still unannounced is Arroyo possible run.

MANILA, Philippines - The search for the administration standard-bearer for the 2010 elections has been narrowed down to three that includes Vice President Noli de Castro and Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, Malacañang officials revealed Friday.

Presidential Adviser for Political Affairs Gabriel Claudio and Press Secretary Cerge Remonde in separate interviews also did not discount the possibility that the third still unnamed candidate would come outside of the ruling coalition.

On the other hand , Jejomar Binay is eyed as the possible standard beared for the opposition, this according to Estrada. Estrada earlier threathened to run again if the opposition do not unite and elect a single candidate. Other opposition hopefuls are Senators Loren Legarda and Panfilo Lacson.

Of all the possible presidential candidates in the 2010 elections, Mayor Jejomar Binay is “the most qualified,” according to a statement issued Friday by Makati City citing a radio interview of former President Joseph Estrada. “Mayor Binay is the most qualified among the list of presidential candidates in 2010,” the statement quoted Estrada, who had hinted he may also run again for president in the next elections if the opposition forces fail to united behind a single candidate.

Meanwhile, priest turned politician Ed Panlilio was told to decide by July if he wants to run.

How about Jejomar Binay?  In my opinion ayos sya magpalakad ng nasasakupan nya.

Eddie Villlanueva is also qualified for this kind of leadership for following reasons:

1) He is a man of principle and character; 2) Quality Leadership in the church; 3) With genuine compassion for the country; 4) He is not a politician.

For me its Bro Eddie Villanueva... It takes a godly man for this corrupt country. We dont need politicians anymore, we need new leadership whose eyes are upon the ways of the Lord, a leader who has great compassion for the nation, with conviction to eradicate self initiated motives and perverse doings.

1
OFW from Riyadh

Being a president in 2010 does not necessarily requires knowledge in lawmaking but rather it requires the motive, the ability and the heart in leadership, the character, and leadership by example. Therefore, if we allow and support all these three well-known 'men of principle & integrity' like Chief Justice Puno, Ed Panlilio, Eddie Villanueva into a highest position in the government whatsoever and avoid discrediting any one of them to run, then we as OFW are in full support to this cause, especially during the time of actual governance by whom we choosed in 2010. If they commit any mistakes, we are also responsible and willing to correct and help them through any means.

Issue # 1:  Double Insertion?   nNo.  nNo double insertion, as alleged, and definitely no anomaly. nWhile there were two (2) distinct appropriations for the same --- C5 Project --- these were for two (2) very different stages of the Project. nThe first P200 Million was for the Sucat Road Flyover; nThe second appropriation, also for P200 Million, was for the Coastal Road Flyover. nThe next slide shows these two very distinct flyovers.   Villar, previously, already CLEARED by Senator Enrile   nAs early as September of 2008, Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, then Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, cleared Villar of these same charges. nIn the exact words of Sen. Enrile on the Senate Record at that time:  “Unfortunately that (referring to the appropriations) is being twisted to make it appear that the introduction of additional amount is an attempt to steal from the government”.   Issue # 2:  Was the C5 Road Extension allegedly diverted or realigned to benefit Sen. Villar or his companies?   nNo.  nThe alignment of the on-going C5 Road Project is the originally identified DPWH alignment, and no changes were made in any way. nThis is being confused with the alleged “original” alignment, which refers to a completely different Road, the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway Project(MCTEP); nThe next slide shows why it is easy to confuse one road project for the other.   Explanatory Letter of the DPWH dated October 15, 2008   nSubmitted to the Senate Committee on Finance nPage 2, Paragraph 5 of the Letter states: “The alignment being referred to with an initial payment made in the amount of P1.2 Billion is the C5 Alignment of the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB)under the concession with UEM-MARA Phils.  Thus DPWH-NCR is not in any way privy about the said transaction.  Said alignment is DIFFERENT from the alignment being followed by the DPWH-NCR.” (underscoring supplied)   A tale of TWO different Projects:
the C5 Road Extension, done by DPWH-NCR, and the MCTEP, done by the Tollway Regulatory Board (TRB)   nExcerpts from the DPWH letter referring to the C5 Road Extension: nPage 2, Paragraph 8 of the DPWH letter:  “The alignment of the ongoing C5 Project is the DPWH-identified alignment…” nPage 2, Paragraph 10 :  “The project was not re-routed as it followed the original route or alignment prepared by DPWH-NCR…” nSame page and paragraph:  “Except for such shifting (centerline slightly shifted) of the Bridge No. 2, no more modification was made from the original alignment up to its construction phases from Sucat Road to Pres. Quirino Avenue.” nWhat was being referred to, erroneously, in the allegations of realignment, was the MCTEP, which straddles a different, though similar, route, and is not the subject of the issues raised against the Senator.     >>>bigan, subukan mo munang alamin ang katotohanan bago mu husgahan ang tao. i post here the explanation about the C5...

‘Bottom Line’

By Andy H. Hagad
Sun Star - <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Bacolod

DAYS ago, a very close friend came up to me wondering why I supposedly came out supporting Brother Eddie Villanueva, the obvious candidate of the Bangon Pilipinas Party for the presidency of the Republic of the Philippines. My family and I were about to watch a movie, and there was no time to explain. Let me do it here, the better to have more people know why.

Aside from Brother Eddie the list of serious candidate to the highest official position in the land are Vice President Noli de Castro, Senators Manny Villar, Mar Roxas, Ping Lacson and possibly Chiz Escudero. Sidling up and also testing the political waters for public affirmation is former president Erap Estrada.

Without exception, these incumbents will go the traditional way of getting themselves elected, which is to pour in billions of pesos to support local officials in every province, city and municipality. In exchange, they get to be carried by the machinery of these governors and mayors, who will use the money to buy the loyalty of barangay captains and purok presidents, who in turn will supply the politicians with household leaders under their payroll who will guarantee them enough votes (hopefully) to make their candidates-cum-benefactors win. I am told under this set-up, a candidate for president needs at least P10 billion pesos in his war chest to have an even chance to win the elections.

The historically-proven problem with this trapo approach to getting elected is that the cost of winning is at least 3,000 percent more than what the victorious candidate will earn once he assumes the position of president. That means he has 3,000 percent more reasons to go corrupt and, if we go by past national and local elections, there is almost a mathematical correlation between the levels of an official’s corrupt ways and the exorbitant way with which he spent money in order to get elected.

I have been in close partnership with Brother Eddie’s Bangon Pilipinas Party since the 2007 national and local elections, and I have seen the way it conducts its campaign. It is grounded on volunteerism, with Brother Eddie’s Jesus is Lord congregation at the core of the campaign machinery. A huge budgetary chest like the ones traditional politicians maintain is unnecessary because the payroll requirements such as the one needed under the trapo system (which, by the way, is the largest item in their budget) does not exist.

Where the traditional politician’s campaign machine is run figuratively by paid employees, including barangay and purok officials, the volunteers of Bangon Pilipinas operate more like biblical shepherds, guiding the flock to exercise their right to vote not on the basis of which candidate paid more, but rather to put one’s vote into the candidate who does not need to pay to deserve being elected.

Now to answer that question raised by my friend: I am not supporting Brother Eddie Villanueva because he is Brother Eddie Villanueva. I have adopted the Bangon Pilipinas Party’s principles in choosing and voting candidates because I believe in the correctness of these principles which is basically the same as that espoused by our Catholic hierarchy. The only difference is that our bishops refuse to go as far as naming candidates. If Brother Eddie is ultimately nominated as the party’s standard bearer for president, I will very likely come out supporting him not because I know him to be good (I don’t know him that well, in fact) but because the movement that will make him win guarantees that he is given the independence of judgment as Chief Executive of the land that the trapo system cannot give its own candidates. For yours truly, that is the bottom line.

Yabang
