I believe that if marijuana is legalized that the U.S. might have less problems.
You don't see people getting stoned and doing random acts of violence or worse killing each other. It is a plant that has many uses, besides just inhaling it.
Clothes and paper are the two many productions from marijuana. If we used it to make paper then less trees would have to be cut down to make paper.
The U.S. needs to find other ways of making things that are "greener" that what we are using now. The way the world is heading the pollution will kill us in no time.
Please try to save us and our planet. Not for us but for the future people who still have the chance to make a difference.

I agree that legalizing marijuana could have several positive impacts on the current state of affairs. I don't think that we can ignore this issue any longer. By taxing and regulating marijuana, we could positively impact our deficit, which I think we can all agree needs some serious attention. It would also help lower taxes overall, as I believe the amount of income would be substantial. It also allows marijuana users to no longer be associated with "illegal crime". As it stands now, the government forces marijuana users to interact with drug dealers. This is why marijuana is a gateway drug, not because people want to try harder drugs after using it.
Marijuana also has a number of health benefits, one of which being a cure for glaucoma. Glaucoma is one of the most common ailments in society today, and legalized Marijuana could be used for treatment.
Lastly, I've never understood why substances such as alcohol are perfectly legal - which causes hundreds of car related deaths per year. I think it's time that we end the stereotypes associated with marijuana, and legalize it; studies show the benefits of marijuana outweigh any cons, not to mention the fact that there are substantially less side effects with marijuana use versus legal prescription drugs prescribed to Americans today.
