You know, it is not like this is a new development in Columbia, why  anyone would leave the  security of their home country for a country known to kidnap foreigners is  to say the least "NUTS"!

A Canadian citizen has been missing for nine days in Colombia and is believed to have been kidnapped.

Unconfirmed reports have identified the man as being from Ottawa.

Foreign Affairs spokesperson Eugenie Cormier-Lassonde would not verify the man's hometown, but said that consular officials were advised earlier this week that a Canadian citizen in Colombia had been reported missing.

"Officials at the Canadian Embassy in Bogota are in contact with the Colombian authorities responsible for the investigation," the spokesperson said in an e-mailed statement.

"Consular officials have been in contact with the family and consular assistance is being provided."
