Massachusetts Maritime Academy Statement from Admiral Rick Gurnon

Captain Richard Phillips, held captive by Somali pirates for five days, has been released.

Apparently several pirates were killed as US Navy SEALs stormed the Maersk Alabama. CNN says that Captain Phillips jumped overboard again, leaving the pirates without anyone to shield them from direct armed confrontation.

The Phillips family was notified of the rescue several hours before the media was.

The official said Capt. Richard Phillips is uninjured and in good condition, and that three of the four pirates were killed. The fourth pirate is in custody. Phillips was taken aboard the USS Bainbridge, a nearby naval warship.

This is great news.  Thankfully Capt. Phillips was freed unharmed.  Time now to form a multi-national coalition to take further action and end this madness once and for all.

I posted a story too Jordan, didn.t realize you had already started one.  Apparently three pirates were killed.  This is good news for the US and hopefully it doesn.t happen again.

Good news, and a great Easter for the Captains family, lets hope now the US will let those who wish to prosper off the backs of those, will get their just desserts in the form of Lead and a trip to the bottom of the sea.
