MUSSOORIE, 3 May:

Dr.Ram Vilas Vedanti former president Ram Mandir Nyas Trust venteing his anger towards the appeasement policy by congress,BSP and Samajwadi Party.

Speaking in a meeting he said that India was only country in the world which was secular whereas Countires like USA and Pakistan were known by their religion. He said it was high time that Hindus rise to the occasion and choose pro hindu govt in centre.

MUSSOORIE, 3 May: At a meeting held at Gandhi Chowk, here, former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Ram Vilas ‘Vedanti’ stated that it was the captive Muslim vote bank that created distortions in elections. If for some reason, the politicians could not utilise the vote bank, they would be forced to conduct positive politics.
‘Vedanti’ alleged that the Muslim vote bank was directly leading to the appeasement policy by major political parties, hindering the interest of the common man.
Vedanti said that if such votes were not available, no party would follow the appeasement policy and hence the development issue would be the major plank.
Praising Varun Gandhi and calling him a true son of the soil in comparison to Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, he said that the latter had adopted foreign values. Going a step further, he also claimed that there was no question of settling for anything less than the head of a terrorist like Bin Laden.
Reacting to the statement made by Lalu Prasad Yadav on Varun, Vedanti said that if he would have been railway minister, he would have put Lalu Prasad Yadav under the train for such remarks. He also said that only a pro-Hindu Government at the centre was capable of building a Ram temple in Ayodhya and removing Article 370 from the constitution. He also said that Christians were converting poor people by naming their organisations similar to Hindu ones.
Vedanti also alleged that Sonia Gandhi had sided with Maoist forces in Nepal. for  full story go tohttp://www.garhwalpost.com/index.php?mod=article&cat=Uttarakhand&article=796

France, Germany, Sweden are all secular countries and so is Canada and some others countries as well.

I think that remaining secular and keeping State and religion well separated is the best way to go in the long run and to maintain peace and justice for all.

The Vote Bank does not sound secular though.

I don.t totally agree with secularism in Germany.  The party in power is the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) supported by the Bavarian faction Christian Socialist Union (CSU).  The constitution (Grundgesetz) may very well be secular in nature, where it separates church from state.  The other non-secular action is that the state collects church taxes.

This is contradicted by a speech by Bundespraesident Johannes Rau on the occasion of the 275th birthday of Ephraim Lessing.  See the link below:

To some extent it depends on ones interpretation of secularism.

Votebank politics is the practice of creating and maintaining votebanks through divisive policies. As this brand of politics encourages voters to vote on the basis of narrow communal considerations, often against their better judgement, it is considered inimical to democracy. The term was coined in India, where the practice of votebank politics is rampant. Since then, it has gained currency in other Asian countries with a significant English-speaking population. for details go to

Why would any rational person vote against their better interest?

But vdoes not the India constitution commit to a secular society?  And what exactly did Lalu say that was incendiary?  He may be a crook but he has done wonders at turning around the India Railways (so I have to admit im impressed with him in spite of his dark background!).
