Carnival Cruise--Relaxing Vacation or "Predator Jungle"?

MARYVILLE, Tenn -- The FBI is investigating a rape of a 12-year-old Blount County, Tennesse girl on a Carnival Cruise Lines ship.  The girl's grandmother stated that her granddaughter was raped by a 23-year-old man and left drunk and alone in a hallway last November.

The grandmother says the 12-year-old had planned to go back to her cabin briefly with other girls her age when she was assaulted. The ship's doctor examined the girl and local authorities boarded the ship at its next stop in St. Maarten. The FBI followed up when the ship returned to Florida.

Carnival spokeswoman Jennifer de la Cruz confirmed that authorities were investigating the allegation.

 No charges have been filed.
