Disabled Carnival Splendor Cruise Ship Arrives in San Diego

The Carnival Splendor, disabled at sea for three days, is pulling into San Diego Harbor. Passengers will be able to disembark at around 10am PDT.

We originally wrote that the Carnival Splendor would dock in Ensenada; the ship has been brought to San Diego after receiving supplies via the USS Ronald Reagan.

Many of the 3,200 passengers are lining the deck of the ship as media helicopters buzz overhead. No doubt they will be happy to touch dry land and eat something other than spam.

A chagrined Carnival Cruise Lines, along with apologizing profusely, has arranged hotel rooms and ground and air transportation for the passengers, who were without air-conditioning, hot food and hot water for showers since a fire Monday morning knocked out most systems on the ship.
