Carod Rovira wants to freshen up the Catalan republican party
Barcelona: Josep Lluís Carod Rovira left as leader of ERC last June but has shown great interest in becoming an influence in the Catalan Republican Party as he demonstrated on Tuesday during the conference of “30 años de independentismo de izquierda: pasado, present y futuro” that took place at la biblioteca Jaume Fuster in the neighbourhood of Gràcia.
One thing that caught my interest was the fact that Carod Rovira now wants to be pro Spanish instead of “antiespañoles”. Very interesting indeed. Another thing that caught my eye about this interesting political character is that while he disregards any critiscm about opening consulates in other countries during this credit crunch, they are closing down the ones opened in Belgium and Sweden. He’ll leave the one in New York, though. It’s a nice place to go shopping in New Year, isn’t it?
How can a region in Spain open up consulates in other countries? I think it all boils down to one thing in the end - nadie le hace ni puto caso! Maybe that’s why our friend Carod Rovira is less anti Spanish and is closing a few consulates. Sounds a bit like Tony Blair’s new labour - another whitewashed grave if ever there was one.
