The following video documents an unreported cavalry charge from the Metropolitan Police on the Student Protesters at Whitehall on the 24th of November 2010.

Students and academic staff lined the streets, some as young as 13, to protest the rise in tuition fees and the cuts to art funding as part of the Coalition's austerity measures.

The protest began at 11am at UCL, marching south into the City towards Whitehall and the Houses of Parliament. The Police successfully kettled protesters a mere hour in, blocking them in to Whitehall. The cavalry charge is one of many that injured students in an effort to force the student line back. The students themselves report that no violence occurred prior to kettling.

Kettling is a controversial police tactic to wall in protesters behind police lines for hours upon end to prevent damage and violence outside of a predetermined area. It was used most notably at the G20 protests in London, where innocent bystanders were kept for hours. In this case, some protesters were only released nine hours later with inadequate access to water or sanitation.

This is the second protest to have happened, the first ending with violent pictures from the Millbank tower, the Conservative Party HQ.
