More than 200 of the nation's most-famous people -- including actors, entertainers, musicians and politicians -- were spotted wearing eye patches last night at a $25,000-a-plate Hollywood fund-raising gala to benefit Somali pirates and their families.

The private, invitation-only event, held at the Beverly Hills home of actor and activist Danny Glover, attracted a virtual "Who's Who" of celebrities, according to a report in Variety today, and funds raised will go to help Bob Geldof with his recently-announced plan to stage a series of "LIVE RAID" concerts to benefit Somali pirates and their families.

"The people of Somalia -- including those the media are quick to label as 'pirates' -- need our help," Glover said. "The $5 million raised tonight will go toward giving these seafaring businessmen a fighting chance at realizing the type of lifestyle they obviously want and deserve."

Among those in attendance were Johnny Depp, Woody Harrelson, The Dixie Chicks, Sheryl Crow, Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and Gov. Arnold Schwarzeneger (R-Calif.).

According to an anonymous source who attended the event, the gala attracted many of the same celebrities who were involved in helping Geldof with his recording of "We ARRRR Ye World," a new “pirated version” of the 1985 song, “We Are the World.” Geldof is using the new recording to raise money for his aforementioned oppressed-pirate relief effort, "LIVE RAID."

EDITOR’S NOTE: In case you haven’t figured it out yet, the post above is not true. Combine all of the havoc and mischief Somali pirates have wrought on the world’s shipping lanes with the lack of common sense displayed by so many liberals in the worlds of entertainment, media and politics, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone on the left pick up this far-fetched idea of mine and run with it one day soon.

"Live Raid". Great name.

Woody Harrelson? Good pick.

At first I just shook my head and said; "It figures". When I saw Harrelson's name mentioned then I knew I just entered la la land. Support the right of the pirates to light their joints in private. lol
