Jan 8, 2009
There was a shocking find in the Bronx late Wednesday night. The search for a missing woman ended with body parts found on a roof. It happened in Bedford Park, near Fordham University.
Sources told CBS 2 HD that when police found the woman's burned body on the roof, there was no attempt to conceal it and that the arms and legs of the unidentified victim had been cut off and removed from the scene. So far, the limbs have not been recovered by crime scene technicians. The grisly murder has sent a chill throughout the Bronx neighborhood.
"I'm scared for my life because I be out here late at night and it's scary," neighbor Elizabeth Volton said.
Police said the woman was missing for a few days. Her family went into her apartment Wednesday, the one she shared with her boyfriend, and found blood. They then called police.
"They come into the store get some drinks and some candy because they have a little kid, and they go home," said Tony Eli, an acquaintance of the victim.
Eli said the couple began coming into his store a few months ago and is stunned at what happened to this friendly mother.
"She was like an honest woman, a nice woman," Eli said. "She didn't have no problem with nobody."
As the victim's family copes with how this woman's life ended, a source told CBS 2 HD her boyfriend is in custody, being questioned by police.
Police have not said how the woman was killed. They are waiting for autopsy results to determine a cause of death.
