Assistance to Sudanese refugees in Chad
Fighting in Darfur, western Sudan, has driven tens of thousands of people - mostly women and children - into Chad. The insecurity persists and people continue to flee across the border. The refugees, stripped of their homes, their livestock and their crops are receiving lifesaving food from WFP at three camps. WFP is racing against time and considerable logistical challenges to stock enough food near the refugee camps before the rainy season beginning at the end of May cuts off access.
