Most likely ex vice president Cheney, will just send an email to the inquiry stating "I plead the 5th on everything", "Have a Nice Day", with a little smiley face as his signature.

WASHINGTON -- Former Vice President Dick Cheney said he might refuse to speak with a prosecutor investigating suspected CIA prisoner abuses, a probe he branded as political and bad for national security.

Cheney has been one of the fiercest critics of U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder's decision last week to name a new special prosecutor to look deeper into harsh interrogations of captured terrorism suspects during the Bush administration.

This will turn into a nightmare.  Once the stones are rolled back, who knows where it's going to go.  Which lawyer will want to give advice to the President and what about interrogators?

Besides the fact that it may or may not be political, I think it sets a bad precedent.

Look at the Somalia inquiry.  It never got after the real culprits, some lower ranks were sacrificed and their lifes ruined, while those that did the cover up walked.

P.S.  If you think I.m bitter about Somalia, you bet.  It cost us the Canadian Airborne Regiment, just to reemerge in fractions of three so-called light companies across Canada.  Of course now we have the JTF and it is covered in secrecy.  Better to deal with the devil you know than the one you don't know.  Whoo hooo Politicians.

What you say may be correct rng.  I still don't think that this, even with a special prosecutor will lead anywhere.  The political elite in the end will protect each other.  This can either be done by discounting the special prosecutors findings or by influencing his/her findings from the outset.

I won't make the judgment on whether or not this is politically motivated, others can decide that.  As a neutral observer, though, I think that America needs to move on.  Regardless of the action taken here, you will probably alienate half of the American population.

The key here is not to repeat the mistakes of the past.

Surprise, surprise!

It will be interesting to see how he will be handled when he digs in his heels.

I hope he refuses. When you refuse a federal indictment you go to jail (at least temporarily) period. Then he can make best buds with the inmated there. Lol.

Thanks Everyone, somehow I have a bad feeling he will escape all prosecution, I just know he has a list, a long list of politicians both Dems and Rep who were complicit, one man can not do all that damage alone.

Yes, that is true. But one man, especially as high up as he was in the pecking order, could have done a hell of a lot to stop it.

I hope Dick refuses to answer voluntarily and the CIA investigators are forced to use Enhanced Interrogation Techniques. I'd pay my life savings to see Cheyney Waterboarded 183 times!
