Chicago P.D. draws guns on journalists
This is disturbing story out of Chicago. It seems a number of young journalists covering the anti-NATO protests in Chicago were targeted for harassment by the Chicago Police Department. Batteries and external hard drives of theirs were smashed and the cell phone of one individual was taken, and much of what he had recorded was deleted. The excuse the cops gave to the individuals, was that their car had matched another car.
I hope whatever the people in that supposed other car had done was pretty bad, because these journalists had guns drawn on them during the stop. A fellow journalist, Mike Paczesny, who works with one of those stopped, Luke Rudkowski, was questioned earlier in the day about Rudkowski by the police. Maybe this was because Rudowski had asked the police superindendent of the city if the police was putting in agent provocateurs at the protests.
A woman who was renting the apartment where the individuals had stayed, said that police had gathered outside of the residence and were not allowing people into it. So, the odds that this was just the stop of a wrong car, are absolutely nill. The police targeted this car and made an excuse that they were going after other individuals.
They drew guns on these journalists in an effort, it seems, to illegally erase video and destroy equipment. Makes you wonder what was on the video, doesn't it? Frankly, I don't see one reason why all these cops shouldn't be immediately fired, along with those who ordered the illegal detention. Of course, that will not happen. They will probably be given medals.
