That outrage quickly prompted politicians including Blagojevich to jump on the anti-Bank-of-America bandwagon calling for a halt in business with the bank. The Wall Street Journal reported  15 Chicago aldermen or city council members said they were gearing up to introduce a city ordinance next week that would require Chicago to suspend business with Bank of America and require the city to withdraw all funds and deposits with the bank or any of its subsidiaries.

Chicago workers occupy Republic Windows Factory 2, fired before Christmas

Chicago YOUTUBE video LiveVideo   Factory 2 occupied, Bank of America says must close...workers get a note DEC-3rd, fired DEC-5. Would someone do this to a Hedge fund manager, of course not, he would get $10 million to survive.

200 workers in Chicago will decide if Middle class job loss is a value to fight for Obama, the mass after Big 3 Detroit car makers to come. Chicago Obamas Home Area, he can not forget his voters. Chicago with the meat factories, pork bellies,  a powerful production area to replace non-productive New York Wall street phantom ?

Chicago, Obama president elect saying...ok, right action...

CHICAGO (AP) — President-elect Barack Obama is weighing in on behalf of workers staging a sit-in on the factory floor of their former Chicago employer to protest abruptly losing their jobs last week.

US workers make history

One of the factory's workers, Silvia Mazon, said in Spanish that she needs the money owed to her for an $1,800 monthly house payment. The 40-year-old from Cicero said she has enough money saved to survive for one month.

"We're making history," she said.

Rep. Jan Schakowsky, an Illinois Democrat, called it the start of a movement. "This story has resonated around the world," she said.

Republic windows should pay workers

Obama told a news conference Sunday that Republic Windows and Doors should follow through on its commitments to the 200 workers, who say they won't leave the plant until they are assured they'll receive their severance and vacation pay.

"The workers who are asking for the benefits and payments that they have earned, I think they're absolutely right and understand that what's happening to them is reflective of what's happening across this economy," Obama said.

YOUTUBE VIDEO FACTORY 2 OCCUPIED, original text:

United Electrical Workers at the Republic Window and Door factory in Chicago's Goose Island neighborhood were notified on Wednesday, 03 December that they were laid off as of Friday. No warning, nothing. On Friday 05 December workers showed up to get their paychecks, and staged a sit-in. They have now occupied the factory. Republic is heading into bankruptcy and Bank of America is running the show there now: and they instructed Republic to ignore their duty to their employees--state and federal law require notice--and their contract with the workers' union and deny them any severance or their vacation pay. This occupation represents workers in this country finally saying "no more!" This video was taken Saturday morning, 06 December

There is little Obama can do for 40 more days.  The economy everywhere could be much worse by then.

As President of a Country he has to think of the well being of the country first and not favouring his home turf even if those did vote for him his first responsibility is to the USA and not to Chicago. If the future of the US demands it he will have to let Chicago dye if necessary.

Paschen...Obama..If the future of the US demands it he will have to let Chicago dye if necessary. Yes a president must take care of the country.

A new president like Obama defined his home Area Chicago with real business people for important speeches. Collapsing states will rescue to Business cities like Genua/Italy once. To keep up united states difficult, some will break out of poverty created by NewYork Riders, heading for new shores of profitable production. Others, the old investment frog jar jumpers will stare at charts and disappear. Is Chicago such a new Business City ? For sure the past with Zenith Transistor Radios TVs. I give Chicago a chance, but control the drinks.
