INTRODUCTION
CDO (Child Development Organization) is a social non-governmental, non-profitable, non-political organization, registered under society Act XXI of 1860 and is working for the development of education, health and awareness in NWFP including FATA. The organization has committed hardworking experienced and qualified staff led by visionary leadership, utilizing their energy for the development of the society with special focus on child.
Education is basic human rights and no one can deny its importance but in Pakistan this basic right is mostly neglected. Result of this negligence is the present over all backwardness, deteriorating condition of law and order, economic deprivation and a lack of strong political will for the solution of these problems. The ignorant and illiterate society has no capacity to enter into relation with rest of the world in the era of globalization. Observing these miseries some jubilant youths of different district of NWFP set together and decided to respond to the situation and to do some thing for the development of the society.

Creating an egalitarian society that is best in learning, well educated, healthy, and dignified and wants to make better future for children.

Organization Status
CDO is registered under Society Act 1860, in February 2005 with registration No.790/5/3252.registration certificate is attached at annex “A”, The organization has board of director comprising 7 members and executive committee for implementation of programs and projects.

General Body
General body is including twenty eight members and their meeting will be held once a year.
Organization Objectives
1. To improve system & mechanism for ensuring child rights.
2. To improve and increase child access to education facilities.
3. To launching of different project aiming provision of services in education health, child protection and development.
4. To improve and enable Child friendly environment at government, private sector, communities and informal education institutions.
5. To sensitize/Aware parents regarding child rights including education, health and play etc.

• Orientation Training on CRC (Convention on Rights of Child)
• Formation of child rights committees in Darband Bara Road Peshawar and District Mardan
• Facilitates of line agencies/ department in implementation of the existing laws.
• Mobilization of CSOs for child rights.
• Promotion of Community’s dialogue on the current issues/problems.
• Awareness workshop for parents and Children in District Batgram and Balakot
• Linking people with education institution.
• Establishment of community schools.
• Linking of people with concerned government departments.
• Training of teachers. (Attractive, interesting curricular activities)
• Child focused/provision of children entertainment mechanism.
• Strengthening of PTAs (parents’ teacher association).
• Dialogue with parents’ physical support for traumatized children (victims of the war on terror or natural disaster).
• Awareness through trainings /workshop walks, and consultation meetings
• Medical camp for needy children in the specific locations.
Achievements
Health
Awareness campaigns about HIV/AIDS, STDs and Hepatitis etc. in this regard seminar and consultation meeting were held in different districts.
EDUCATION
CDO has supported literacy for female and community based primary education for children, especially girls. We provided education to those children;

Teacher training on corporal punishment, Child Protection, child abuse and other child protection issues.
Beneficiaries Participation
Our approach is always to involve the communities from the very beginning and find out their priorities and through need assessment using focus group discussions (FGD) and participatory techniques. Therefore the projects are owned by communities and supported by them during implementation.
Health Education
CDO has extensive experience and insight in health sector. CDO is one of the pioneer organizations working in the field of education and health, has emerging as a resource for community based organization for health issues in NWFP and at national level as well.
Community Mobilization
• CDO has in house team working for the community mobilization.
• CDO has trained teachers for the best education of children and their parents.
• CDO is going to start teaching for the poor and child labors in Hayatabad and Peshawar city and mobilize their employers.
• Trained Community Activists on Health, Education and Environmental protection.
• Trainings CSOs for family control programs.
• CDO has used theatrical activities as tool for awareness and highlighting issues.
• CDO has capacity to conduct research studies. Therefore several research studies have been conducted for different organizations and projects.
• CDO has the capacity to develop Information Education Counseling material for itself and for other organizations with the consultation and involvement of the communities.
Disaster and Relief
A) The Earthquake
The devastating earth quake 8th October 2005 had jolted North part of NWFP and AJK, that had badly damaged the Hazara region and AJK, while district Mansehra was badly destroyed. CDO took part in the relief and rehabilitation activities.
B) Intervention
1. The organization immediately rushed the Relief Camp Peshawar to collected food items, shelter etc for the victims.
2. Arranged Emergency meeting with local organization and contact them, so that coordinated efforts had been planned.
3. Collected donation from private medical stores in shops of emergency medicines and mineral water, juices and Milk from shop keepers.
4. On the same day the Organization volunteers visited Balakot city along with emergency medicines for injured victims and to have collected first hand information about the victims.
5. Made video documentary for the visiting Balakot the same day so that it could be disseminated to National and International Media, that Nation in world community can see the level of destruction and to response the victims
