A Child witnessing the strangulation of their mother, at the hands of the father, one cannot imagine what goes on in the mind of a child.  One wonders what life will be like when she grow up.

Domestic violence is an all too common scenario in North America, witnessed by children with fatalities of their loved ones. Children will certainly need all the help in the world when parents who had loved and cared for them and protected them from evil, witness it first hand by their own parents.

Last week she excitedly handed her Grade 2 classmates invitations to her upcoming birthday party.

Yesterday those classmates wrote a prayer for God to help her after she allegedly witnessed her father strangle her mother to death in their west-end apartment Sunday morning.

The eight-year-old girl and her three-year-old brother were taken from Apartment 509 at 30 McEwen Ave. Sunday afternoon after paramedics found the body of their mother, Lien Angelis, 42, wrapped in carpet.

Their father, Demetrios Angelis, 38, was charged yesterday with manslaughter. The couple was in the middle of a divorce and had a "fight gone bad" which the children witnessed, police said.

Lien Angelis had been dead for several hours when the 2 p.m. 911 call was made. Demetrios Angelis is a former nurse practitioner at the Queensway Carleton hospital.
