A collection of drawings and letters from children living in the United States and from around the world, sharing their hopes, wishes and ideas with then President Elect Barack Obama, has been unveiled online today, on the observance of this year's Presidents' Day celebration, February 16, 2009.

The deadline for submission for the Dear Mr. President Project was extended from January 20, 2009 to January 27, 2009 due to high demand.

Children ages 5 through 13 were invited to send in their drawings and letters for the project.

The top 50 selections chosen from the children's submissions will be available for download at Kidthing, a digital partner of the National Education Association.

A limited editon of the book will be printed and sent to President Obama and the First Family.

Some of the letters from the children are funny, truly reflective of the child's age. Others express concerns for the family's tough economic times, causing some children to worry about matters that should be beyond their concerns.

The kids are adorable and funny, thanks Karen.  You're right that they worry about stuffs that are beyond their years.

Sadly, it appears that not one of these kids have been taught by their teachers about liberty, freedom, personal responsibility and American principles.

Most would say that the children of the United States of America and the world learned a lesson regarding the democratic process that functions in America, that being, there is a process involving American citizens that elects the President and Barack H. Obama Jr. was the victor in that process.

Thanks for this article, Karen.  Great pictures!  I linked to your article at this news I just published:

President Obama is one of the world's most popular leaders.  He and his family look warm and inviting on your photo display.  No wonder the children are drawn to him.
