October 1st has arrived and China this year is having a big celebration and parade noting the 60th anniversary and beginning to PR of China. China has been preparing for several months and are showing some very sharp looking Military Troops, and Military Hardware. Quite impressive I see. They have come a long way...in advancing their technology. There are many cruise missiles, tanks, and of course the Army. The Airforce and Navy also are here this day...showing how China has made huge strides in providing its own legitimate security. China brings renewed hope to a world in crisis. Good- going President Hu.

Actually this parade is more impressive than the 2008 parade that celebrated the China Olympics. There are many elderly Veterans that are participating in the parade. These guys are revered and honored for being the guys who freed China from the oppression of the Japanese, and the Kumintang Forces.

The parade began at 10 oc'clock,  in Beijing. Many security forces are at hand, and China also has many forces that are not on parade..at the moment taking care to be the true observers and always in readiness mode. The nuclear weapons are quite numerous I think... And China has always stated it would never use nuclear weapons first.

China television has been totally committed to the National Day.Celebration..There are many war movies that show how China fought the Japanese, and they talk very positive and really support the China Communist Party...

Many of the people support the China Mlitary because China's military does more than military exercises. In fact it helps the people. The Sichuan Earthquake we saw the military doing the work to help rebuild the peoples lives. Many Sichuan people are in deep gratitude to the PLA.

This is one reason I have much respect and admiration to China and it's military...because they help the people, unlike in the west and United States... who rely on bureaucratic FEMA institutions that totally bungled the helping of people during the Katrina disaster, and other disasters in the USA.

Today in Beijing the weather is perfect for this autumn celebration which is backed up next to Mid Autumn Festival which arrives on Oct. 3rd..This is when all the people and families have the traditional delicious mooncake.

I still hope for the betterment of China, especially in some rural areas, where clean places to buy food is lacking. But I am sure the reform will only proceed along...

I am happy to be reporting from PR China.

It is wonderful that we can put our political differences aside, if only for a day, and into the eyes of hope. The world is full of good people no matter where they live. I pray for world peace. As long as we have dialog we will retain this fragile balance between peace and the spoils of war. Enjoy the day Rev. Jermano.

Good post.  A couple of comment on the military not helping in the West.  The National Guard was very much involved during Katrina and saved a lot of people  The military however, can only operate with the resources provided by the government.

In Canada the military is constantly used to aid in floods, forest fires and other natural disasters.  The ice storm in central Canada is a great example of that.  So with all due respect Western Military helps in disasters as well.

Thanks AcowP:  I guess the point is all the money they spend in paying for the upkeep of troops, building tanks, and guns, and missiles, and bullets, and air jets, and ships, and radar information systems....literally comes down to what? The hope we never use them in battle. The senselessness of doing all that work, for the idea we won't use them. Think of the years that have gone by. We certainly have had no war with China.....and all that equipment ends up as rusted nuts and bolts, and cobwebs..of mental confusion... and a complete waste of money.to why did we do this?

Also AcowP: The National Guard is not in my opinion online military personel doing their job to help the people. National Guard are called weekend warriors. They have their own private sector jobs as well. The point is US tax payers pay through the nose and up the arse to the regular military who literally do nothing but wait to rust away as I have explained above. That is why they make up these fake lying wars to justify their nonsense of purpose.

The National Guard is pretty well on line now and has been since the commencement of the Iraq war.  Also the role of the National Guard is to assist during disasters.  In Canada the Regular Army fulfills that function.

One bit of criticism of China's parade:

The parade really got smoked out with pollution from the tanks rolling down Tiananmen Square. That was a mistake...they were not anticipating....and to include the pollution expelled from all the aircraft flying. One has to wonder how much fuel they used today for the Anniversary? And if they are so technically up to date....why the smoking tanks, billowing out their exhaust all along the parade route.

Other than that it was a glorious parade and day....Especially all the floats from all of China's Provinces....how beautiful they were.
