As reported by Michel Cormier for Radio Canada in China!

http://www.radio-canada.ca/nouvelles/carnets/  China is faced with a new disaster, a severe one that is! Water!!  Due to an ongoing floods ! As Michel Cormier puts it "One malediction seldomely comes alone."

Devastating winter storms have already destroyed a large part of the harvest to be and the Earth Quake did the rest, however if this is not yet enough, now China is faced with a severe floods that may have devastating concequences and claim still more victims than the Earth Quake did!

Even Hong Kong seems to be affected even though it usually is protected from this sort of struggle. It Is now facing flood in dimensions it can simply not handle nor would ever have expected to handle!

Chinas main problem seems to be that this sort of disasters will increase over the next couple of years given cause for more human casualities and suffering than it already has to deal with.

The Paradox of all this is that the melting of the glaciers and those great floods will cause yet another disaster. The lack of drinking water that is!

This is not only a serious problem, even dessasterous but one that will affect the World over and have dyer consequences for us all!

The Enviroment does affect us all and miss handling it has deadly consequescess for us all. China may be a growing industrial power, how ever it is paying for the concequencess that decades of polution from the Western Power has caused our climate changes.

Maybe the Western Nations will offer to compensate China for those humanitarian and enviromental disasters it has caused!

Oh, you mean they are saying it's all our fault?

Hum, Well René do think of it this way: A company (A) builds a factory in Chicago and produces a product (B) that destroys the environment, kills the wild life and makes Farming in the surrounding area impossible and it does also make the people of Chicago sick with cancer and other Sickness! Now the People (C) do find out after years what is causing all they trouble and go to court against (A) because of their product (B) that kills (C), the court finds (A) guilty, orders the closure and for (A) to compensate (C)! Something that has already happened and is still happening. It is called accountability for once action and damages caused due to some once action! The OUA (Organisation of the Union of African Countries) has all ready invoked this possibility against the Western Industrial Powers! The same has been evoked by some Islands that do now suffer the consequences of Global warming and pollution and will most likely vanish from the globe with in the next 20 to 50 years! Some European Countries such as France and Germany have already seen this coming some time ago and have implemented a tax to compensate those countries! The tax is 1% of all travel tickets such as Air or train or Sub way fair, now it could be some what higher now or lower I am not sure but 4 Years ago as the Tax was created it was 1%! Is it fair, well maybe not to you personally, being that you may do what ever you can to counter polution and so on, how ever yes it is fair since we in the west have done great harm and destroyed much as a society and political power and yes we are all responsible since we do live in democratic systems and profit from it as well!

Paschen, I like this story. It's good stuff.

it's everybody's concern, it's very alarming!!! you folk's,  got to believe it... It is not just a political issue, it's really a moral issue and spiritual challenge.

While I see the connection you are mentioning here and even agree with it to a point, I think it is good policy to recognize that greed and avarice to the point of self-destruction is not just an American phenomena. Yes, there are greedy, scummy Yanks who are complicit in this but there are also Chinese in both the governmental and business sectors who are just as vile.

It's also on Al Gore's Project: For 30 years Al Gore, has been a student of the climate crisis and advocate for changed in environmental policies. He brings his message to the big screen in a documentary, An Inconvenient Truth: The Planetary  Emergency of Global Warming and What We Can Do About It. (now also on DVD.)

As Martin Luther King Jr. said in a speech not long before his assasination: "We are now faced with the fact, my friends, that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there is such a thing as being too late." ......

Thank you for the mark  , I do appreciate it very much! I like it that you point out Al Gore his past and that this Man has not just jumped on a fashion ban wagon as some like to put it, no he is working on the environment for over 3 decades and why Clinton made him Vice President as well! Yes MLK his quote is quiet fitting here and thank you for bringing it up. The Environment is in deed a very serious topic that way to many still do not take serious enough and this may cause us to lose the battle and cause our demise!

Mikasi, you are absolutely correct, the American are by far not the only one to be blamed nor to be held accountable! However the USA is the biggest Polluter and the maine obstacle to change on an International level, even Russia has signed the Kyoto Accord! What are the US waiting for? A total disaster before acknowledging the problem and taking action? It may be far to late for us all by then! The USA wants to be a World leader and supper power! So be it and do what a leader has to for the good and benefit of all Human true out the Earth! The UNO has just released a report and study two weeks ago that Germany is the Greenest and most environment friendly Country in the G 20 and that the USA is the Worst Polluter followed right by Canada in the G 20!

Paschen, I like this story. However china lives the old "american dream", polluting first is a right and then perhaps repair it, when it's to late. All river water sources are contaminated in china from industry, this is clear a chinese responability, or is the buyer at the 2$ shop reponsible, I don't know. China-India has tojoin america in a emergency program to get CO2 down, or all three will go down by natures revanche; the system will backfire to get rid of what it makes thick.

SOLARLIFE, Thank you for the flag and your input here, I do appreciate it a lot in deed! Well, You are correct China does have many problems and is in part the culprit for some of its Environmental disasters! Yet China is investing far more into solutions such as Renewable energy and Environmental friendly Agricultural practices than the USA and Canada combined! The melting of the Glaciers is not Chinas doing but ours due to 2 century of massive pollution that we in the West have caused, making us the main culprit and the main responsible as well! I am actually glad you bring up the $2 shops, they are part of the problem, not so much the shop it self than the consumer buying there and demanding this over productions and over consumption, making the consumer responsible and cause as well of the current problems in the environment, now it may be hard to define to what extend the consumer can and should be held accountable!? In a democratic society though the consumer (that is also the voter) can be expected to be accountable and responsible for the larger portion of the problem!

Something that may be debated in an International Court in the near future! Maybe that will wake up all those that do not really care so far!
