Chinas growth expected  still, at 8 or 9% in 2008 and the same in 2009. The upcoming chinese middle class will fly. Airbus wants half of the market, invested $600m in a plant.

The most prominent European delegate was Tom Enders, chief executive of Airbus. Over the weekend he and Wen formally opened the plane-maker's first non-European final assembly line – in a $600m (£340m) plant on a remote former cabbage field that took less than 15 months to build and is now the most modern in the world.

Enders denies that Airbus is putting all its eggs in the Chinese basket but he and his executive team are investing heavily in the prospect of sustained growth – not just in the economy but in air traffic as consumers grow richer. They expect Chinese airlines to order more than 3,000 new planes in the next 20 years and Airbus to capture more than half of those.

Production at Airbus' China plant to begin in August 2008

The plant to build 320s, Airbus' most popular plane, is a joint venture by Airbus and a Chinese consortium. Airbus has a 51-per-cent stake in the venture, which also involves the Tianjin Free Trade Zone and the two Chinese airplane makers China Aviation Industry Corp AVIC I and AVIC II.

SOLARLIFE, I like this story. It's good stuff. China & India are driving the growth in the aircraft manufacture business. Indian aviation has just slowed down but it grew around 30-40% for last couple of years but due to increase in ATF air fares have gone up and so the air passengers number have come down.

Sanjay Jha..."China & India are driving the growth in the aircraft manufacture business", I agree. To compare: India and China educating each 500 000 engineers per year (total 1 million per year), UK educating only 25 000 engineers / year.

The new engineers from India, first known for software, yes. Indeed a new "Creative Engineer" styly is arising form India: Make prototypes, make failures to learn, a culture that allows failures, can go ahead. Western society to perfect? Thanks for Flag.  India, Tata motors bought the first Air pressure car license from MDI France, followed by the US.

SOLARLIFE, I like this story. It's good stuff.

The economic growth of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />China has been dynamic with Japan placing more FDI into their economy than any others.  However, the mistake Japan (and other investment funds) is making will come back to haunt all of us eventually, by not requiring socio-political change by the ruling CCP.  And I would be willing to bet their GDP does not exceed 7 percent by 2010, still impressive by western world standards. But let's not forget the rise of the other "Asian Dragons" during the 80's and early 90's, as their economies are struggling for balance today right along with the rest of the more highly developed west.

The real crisis facing China is building and financing an infrastructure to accommodate 1.4 billion Chinese.  As history records, the barbarians who finally brought an end to the Roman Empire, once their quest was complete they only wanted to act like and become Romans after all.  "And the search for civilization goes on!"
