Ah Bless their cotton socks, the Chinese Government officials kind gesture to Tibet in what can only be described as a "Olive Whip of Higher Learning" are now implementing Education Classes in all Monastaries. Tibetans normally quite studious, may be calling in sick most school days, or using their dogs as an excuse for eating their homework. One can be certain Human Rights may not be on the Chinese instructed Course Curriculum and failure not an option.
BEIJING -- A top Chinese security official has criticized Tibetan Buddhist monks for taking part in anti-government protests and announced that "patriotic education" classes would be expanded at monasteries.
Public Security Minister Meng Jianzhu toured three key monasteries in Lhasa to drive home China's message, the Tibet Daily reported yesterday. His visit was the first by a high-level central government official since protests in the Tibetan capital turned violent this month.
Unrest among Buddhist clergy has been blamed in part on the widely reviled classes, which force monks to make ritual denouncements of their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, and declare loyalty to Beijing. Dozens of Tibetan clergy are serving prison terms for their resistance to "patriotic" or political education.
