Chines authorities in the city of Chongquing have jailed a notorious gangster for 18 years Xie Caiping was a kingpin in the underworld of gambling, loan sharking and violence in that city. Ms. Xie was unusual in that she was reputed to keep a stable of young men for her sexual pleasure.
Ms Xie, 46, had been protected by her brother-in-law, the former head of the city’s judiciary, as she ran 20 gambling dens in hotels, nightclubs and tea houses. She was also involved in drug crime and had bribed police.
Authorities in Chongquing are making an attempt to root out the corruption that has worked its way into the top echelons of law enforcement in that city.
