The Chinese New Year Parade 2009 in San Francisco today

The 2009 Chinese New Year Parade takes place in San Francisco today and the parade will feature over 100 floats and and 201 foot dragon. This is the parade that is known as the oldest and largest Chinese New Year's parade outside of Asia and is starts at 5:15pm and lasts till 8pm.
At Bong Su, a Vietnamese restaurant in San Francisco, they're serving special dishes for the New Year. "Eight treasure rice, it has eight ingredients," explains chef and co-owner Tammy Huynh, "sticky rice, sweet, sweet rice means sweet life. You eat this, you will have a sweet life." Fish also is a popular dish. It symbolizes good health and means long-life for those who eat it.
To see the parade is free and the route goes from Market and Second streets to Kearney and Jackson. There are so many floats and displays to see and in San Francisco this is one of the most anticipated events in the Chinese New Year celebrations.
