Chinese Teacher Hits and Slaps Student In Front of Class
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gdu-EO_qBQc
A Chinese teacher has been caught on a cellphone camera abusing a female student. In the Youtube video she repeatedly slaps the student in the face with her hand, then instructs her to leave. When the student does not comply, she subsequently uses a magazine to continue assaulting the student in the facial area.
The video in question has angered many people and has stirred controversy around the world, bringing up key concerns about the Chinese education system. There are proponents who feel that the physicalities are a part of a child's education while others are absolute in their belief that occurences like this one are completely unacceptable. Either way, the reality in China is that the law does not look harshly upon it. In fact, in many previous cases, teachers who had been reprimanded for "educating" students returned to the same classroom to teach within a week.
This is the reason students, like the ones in the video, often do not speak up against the abuse. In a country where education and marks are the primary determinants of a student's future living standards and career, who would dare face academic retribution by reporting the teacher?
It is fortunate this time that a brave student managed to film the incident, but it just brings up the question: How many other cases like this are happening behind closed doors?
The chinese transcript of the video can be found here:

I was in Taiwan for Grade 1 and I was hit for not achieving a certain percentage on tests. However this was a long time ago and I heard Taiwan has changed its disciplining methods in school.

Ouch! what a terrible thing for a teacher to do. But we have the President of the free world murder thousands of innocent kids in Iraq, and they just don't seem to be able to do anything about that! Either violence is not used and not acceptable, or in todays world it is used and accepted. How ridculous for America to be preaching about violence when that's all America seems successful at doing. When kids are beating up by each other, and no one says a word about that, or to have teachers do nothing about that, lets see what kind of violent society emerges.
