Chino Prison Riot: Inmates Riot at California Institution for Men

Prison officials are trying to quell a riot that broke out at the California Institution for Men in Chino, CA.
The riot began a little after 8:00 pm Saturday night at the Reception Center West facility, a medium-security housing facility. From there, the rioting spread to other units. One or perhaps two units were set on fire
Approximately 40 inmnates were injured and taken to hospitals. Injuries ranged from stab to head trauma. Some injuries are considered life-threatening. No prison guards were injured during the Chino Prison riot. According to Chino prison officials, the prison is on lockdown and is now under control.
A similar riot broke out at Chino Prison last April injuring seven prisoners.

The riot was probably caused but some form of disrespect from a black guy to a mexican. The southern mexicans hate the blacks because of a killing that was made in nevada unsanctioned so they look for any reason at all to go to war with the blacks

I know how you feel. My son it there and the best I could find so far is to google the aerial map (14901 Central Avenue, Chino, CA) and see where the housing units are located. The riots were in the RCW unit on the left of the map. Hope this helps and good luck.

I can not tell you who got hurt. However, my son was in RCE and I thought he would be okay. I reieved a letter from him on Tuesday August 11 dated August 10. Please do not take this the wrong way....we are white. He said the black and mexican started a riot on Saturday night the white's had to support the mexican. Everyone had to do what they had to do even if they did not want to. My son if safe and in the hole for now. His B-day was on the 11th what a way to spended your birthday. I had no idea that this transpired until Monday morning. I hope you have hard from to your son and he is safe too.

My son is in Chino. He was in the RCCentral unit, under 24-hour lockdown (or, something like that). According to the officials, the Mexican's started the riot with the Blacks; however, who lit the match is not relevent at this time b/c everyone is in the fire. I have done a lot of research and I have found some very good ideas which need to be implemented in order to help to 'quell' this fiasco of a prison system in which our state finds itself the caretaker. The guards do not run the prisons the prisoners do and so by violence. What about the 'non violent' offender whose crimes against society did not involve anyone getting hurt? Well, under violent rules (or rulers), one either leaves the violence, becomes a victim to the violence or becomes violent. Early release for non-violent (where noone got physically hurt or kidnapped, etc) offenders and offenders of the non-violent nature who commit to special 'thought process' changing programs with 24-hour house arrest must be implemented. What if these same offenders learned the truth about such realities as THE LAWS OF ATTRACTION or THE SECRET? What if they learned how they themselves have been drawing into their own lives their own destruction and what if they learned the way to change that?? Imagine the possibilities???! Of course, these individuals would need to be housed separately from others so that they can fully absorb this new belief system...what if...

My husband is in there and I have'nt heard a word from him in over a week!! I don't know if he is okay or hurt or what?? And I can't handle not knowing what's going on with him?? He was subpose to be moved and never even saw his counselor. He was only in there for violateing his parole out of town, and he's been there for 4mos and no councelor every came to see him,. I don't know what to do to find out if he's okay or what?? HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Calm down everyone. The reasons your not hearing from your loved ones is because the prison is on lock down. hense the inmates are only getting out of there cells once every three days and they are shackled and escorted to the shower. thats it a shower every three days. The prison will likely remain on lock down for a few more weeks untill they can sort out the mess between the gangs and move inmates to different prisons to try and stop it from popping off again as soon as they get off lock down. As for your family members. If they are of african american decent. Then you may have reason to worrie. Because when race riots run the aryan brotherhood and all other white gangs back up the south siders. the only ones who might back up the brotha's are the northen mexicans but that is doubtful. And we all know how many south side mexicans there are and how many Aryan brothers. so if your kin is white or mexican more then likly they are not amung the seriously injured. stregnth in numbers. I know all of this because I was in prison and I know how it works. Have faith prey for them and be more worried about them loosing theyre parole hearing or getting new charges then of them being hurt.

I hope not b/c there is already too much of it in this world; however, in relation to your comments about the 'Brotha's...Well, GOD WILL RIGHT THE WRONGS AND WALK AROUND THE RIGHTEOUS... what the hell do you mean. i am black from pomona all my life. and when we let the mexician move in our blocks we didnt care black or white green blue whatever we didnt look at color, they started this shit and this is a damm shame. what ever color you are everone is loved you are someones child someones brother someones father and are loved. i have a job where i can make it harder on people that are not my race and i find myself doing this to mexicians .because i know from the front line how shit goes i have 5 sons the only dying of them i will except is dying for this country at war as a soldier . although they are taught not to start shit but thy know when the is a problem eliminate it. and you white boys i thought they were smart did you have to pick any side? all you brothers i love you all not only do they have to fight the mexican, we have white boys added to the guards pomona police are afraids of mexicians why and i do know this first hand when i ride with them. not as a prisioner. never been to jail in my life.

NDOC Ex Convict. THere are no Northern Mexicans in Chino from what i understand. In Chino the Woods backup the Southerns in Riots but in Other Prisons the ARyans will only jump if the blacks and the surenos get into if the Nortenos get into it. Other than that they stay out of it. But yeah it sounds like a black beat up a sureno in a 1 on 1 fight which is what usually happens and when the jail house got out of lock down it all jumped off. But Surenos just caught it in Avenal and Soledad and LA County and maybe Chino or SO CAL prisons is the only place Surenos are deeper than blacks. Every where else where the numbers are even Surenos don't want it. Even in Chino where the blacks are outnumber like 5-6 to 1 by the Eses and whites the Riots are still not as One sided as you would think. Blacks still hold there own even if the South siders got more knifes. As the surenos get deported more and more and there numbers deplete we will see what the Aryan gangs do.

I am not Black, Mexican or White but I see what goes on and USUALLY the Mexicans start the shit. I do not know why, maybe jealousy or something anyways, most Blacks that I have seen fight hold it down even when quadruple-teamed which is generally when the Eses will strike (when their numbers are the greatest). What's up with Asians, anyways?? Why does noone talk about us?

I heard from a good source that the riot was staged because the guards are angry about the furlough days they are forced to take. And the are "accidentely" leaving cell doors opened and Mexican inmates go in and beat him. Now how was that possible? Mind you they are all on lock down. where are those officers? When will enough be enough? The violence stop?

the riots were sent down by a high ranking mexican mafia whom whitch had a argument and a bet for his job with his houseing LT.for being housed in palm hall (the hole).the first attacks took place on 08/04/and/08/05/2009 in the east yeard day rooms and then mens centroll prison day rooms,then 3days later at the west yeard dorms.and started after chow(dinner) .the first to get attackd was marhposa then joshua, ohsay untill all dorms where rioting .We (blacks) where lockd in those dorms and attackd with windows and window seals the glass from the windows throwing it like friz bees hitting people cutting them up.and sticking them(blacks)with real street knifes and out numberd us by 3-1 in each dorm.they(cdc)was told and new it was going to go down on the west yeard.cdc gave no protection or show of fource for the blacks days leading up to the day of the attacks.i was there, i was attackd,i was stabb twice...this is the TRUTH...over crowding wasn't itt..

the riots wasn't over the prison being over crouded either or the budget cuts and or layoffs.
