Delaware Primary Election Results 2010

Tea Party candidate Christine O'Donnell won the Republican primary for one of Delaware's Senate seats against incumbent Michael Castle. The Republican Party is actually not happy about this, as it feels that O'Donnell, as well as the rest of the Tea Party, is too far to the right for mainstream America to swallow in a general election.

In this case, maybe Sarah Palin's endorsement helped Christine O'Donnell pull ahead. Only 57,000 voters turned out; Christine O'Donnell won by 3,000 votes. However, the Delaware Republican Party is not spending any money on her campaign from here on in, as she's been living off of campaign donations while her staff goes unpaid. Also, the Republicans say that O'Donnell's campaign, coordianted with Tea Party Organizers, violated Federal Election Committee rules.

O'Donnell's far-right ideological stance, as well as homophobic comments and open opposition to masturbation, make her a tough sell against Chris Coons, whom she must face in November .

In the race for the contested GOP seat in the House of Representatives, Glen Urquhart edged out Michele Rollins by less than 1%. Bose Izzo trailed both frontrunners by roughly 40%.

With all precincts reporting, Ms. O’Donnell won 53 percent of the vote to Mr. Castle’s 47 percent. The primary drew 57,000 voters, a small slice of the overall electorate.
