Church teaches interracial marriage is plan of devil
The Christian right-wing dominate much of society. But should they?
Appleby Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, Texas teaches that African Americans have the color of skin that they do because the son of Noah, Ham, had sex with his drunk father. This story is of course a myth, and an absurd one at that. In fact they state, "Satan wants to eliminate color by interracial marriages."
See, this Satan (who must live underneath the surface) wants interracial marriages. Now, the beliefs of this church are absurd to even conservative/ fundamentalist Christians today, but to their grandparents, not really.
The bible was the main justification in opposition to interracial marriages, as it is now the main justification in opposition to same sex marriages. Christianity opposed the right of women to vote, interracial marriages and now marriage equality. The question is, why does anyone take the Christian right-wing seriously?
II. Susan Griffiths was an atheist in Canada who wanted a right to die. In Canada, as is almost all of the U.S., the Christian right-wing has blocked such a right for rational adults in grave pain or those with a terminal disease. Well, she traveled to Switzerland and exercised the ability to die over there.
Well, before she had left for Switzerland, a Christian evangelical had contacted a journalist who had done a story on her. The person wanted to be able to contact Griffiths to tell her that if she committed suicide, she was going to go to hell.
So a good and just deity allows her to have a horrible disease and if she ends her life, she goes to a hell. I think she just came from her own personal hell. Once again I must ask, why do we take the Christian right-wing seriousl?
III. In Northwest Rankin High School, outside of Jackson, Mississippi, the school adminstration barred students from leaving from an evangelical revival assembly. There was no secular purpose to this assembly, the whole purpose was to introduce the bible, Jesus and Christianity to the students of Mississippi.
Leaving aside that is like introducing Islam to students in Saudi Arabia, this is just another example of the Christian right-wing using their power and influence in forcing their religion on others.
Supposedly this assembly was student led and voluntary, though earlier in the day an e-mail was sent to all teachers stating students were required to attend. The prinicipal lied for his religion, so lastly once again, why do we take the Christian right-wing seriously?
