If it was supposed to be secret then someone should tell the Washington Post. Then again, if you tell the Post, can they keep a secret? In an open society, they cannot and should not.

Why are we not more open about our foreign policy?

America is a attempting to build the nation of Afghanistan so we can have it our way. We tried to install an American educated President but he is misbehaving so we have to compensate his staff extra so they will tell on one another when someone misbehaves.

We risk troops’ lives so that this tribal nation can survive in a state such that it cannot provide haven to people wanting to project violence against us like al Qaeda did before.

So we monkey around here as if we can afford it. We cannot.

Can’t we go about this in a more professional and clandestine manner if we durst?
