Raymond Davis, a CIA contractor arrested in Pakistan on January 27, 2011 after killing two Pakistani citizens is released on March 16 after the grieved families accepted blood money.

Raymond Davis was not a diplomat and this was confirmed by U.S also and he was here on a special mission of spying for U.S. It is also important to remember that he was not only a killer of two Pakistanis but actually he was a criminal of Pakistan as he was caught with weapons and pictures of some very sensitive Pakistani locations.

Pakistanis have protestors strong against this sudden release of a CIA contractor. Critics are calling it a case only to settle differences between CIA and ISI. Davis wife Rebecca has also said that “My husband arrest is exploited for political reason by governments”.

There was reportedly deepening differences between CIA and ISI which are settled now to an extent in this case and it will interesting to observe how long these warm relations stay on this high note before another such incident occurs.

Country wide rallies are going to be held Friday in Pakistan as main stream opposition parties are calling Davis release a shameful incident and one that has showed how our rulers are under the orders of U.S.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led by Imran Khan will hold a protest rally at Aab-paara Islamabad after the Friday prayer which will be the biggest rally of its king since PTI has majority of opposition support other than religious parties.

Two Pakistani citizens tried to rob Ray Davis and possibly worse, and they may have been more that simple citizens. It was a set up and Ray took care of business.

Fact of the matter is that Raymond Davis was a CIA operative, and in accordance with his job description was supposed to never speak truth. The whole story that he fired in self-defense is cooked up.Uncle of Shumaila, widow of one of the slain and who committed suicide appeared on a TV and told the audience,"(F)amily members were told that they were being taken to a police station to make statements. But they were taken to a secret location and held in isolation. And were threatened that they have to sign the papers, pardoning Davis if they want to see daylight again".A two million dollar deal was struck, who got how much is not known,to secure release of Davis.

When Senator John Carry visited Pakistan, family members of the slain refused to meet him.But he said that Davis would be released within next few days. The families were forced to accept blood money in order to pardon an operative of an intelligence agency.ISI is reported to have brokered the deal

The way Pakistani government has handled the whole issue speaks of its subservience to US empire.
