Unplugged: Uncovering CIA Interrogations

The US Justice Department is re-releasing its 2004 CIA interrogation torture report, this time with fewer elements censored. The contents of the report could lead to prosecution of CIA operatives and contractors for their conduct while pursuing "the War on Terror".

While "Guantanamo Bay" will be the first thought for many readers, the report mainly focuses on US military prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This news comes on the heels of the White House's announcement that it will create a new High Value Detainee Interrogation Group, it begs the question of what techniques will be used: just like the announcement of the closure of Gitmo, a change of location does not necessarily mean a change of practice.

The prisoner confronted with the gun and power drill was identified by current and former US government officials as Abd al Rahim al-Nashiri, the alleged plotter of the attack on the US destroyer Cole. Nashiri was also one of three prisoners subjected to the simulated drowning interrogation method known as waterboarding.

The original public version of this report was censored to the point of uselessness.
A version of the report was released last year but was almost entirely censored. Today’s report will be more extensive but could still contain government redactions.
The Office of Professional Responsibility’s recommendations overrule previous determinations made under the Bush administration, which declined to press charges after receiving the same findings.

Thanks Jordan.  Should be pointed out that this report is from 2004 describing incidents from 2001-2003.  Why now?  PR 101 the health care debate is not going well.  Time to change the subject.  I expect more of this in the next few days and weeks

Dear Frustrated Wholesale Source Seeker:

Are you tired of searching for REPUTABLE wholesale suppliers who don’t require you to purchase and stock LARGE VOLUMES of merchandise you’ll NEVER be able to resell?

Have you HAD IT with buying so called “VERIFIED” suppliers’ contact lists with thousands
of names, only to find that many are either NOT verified or out of business COMPLETELY? And just how many of those “contacts” will you need to call to get EXACTLY what you’re looking for? Will you ever be able to call the thousands of suppliers on those lists? No way! It’s far too TIME CONSUMING!
