Cindy McCain Blasts Obama

BETHLEHEM, PA.) – It’s not just the Republican ticket criticizing Barack Obama – now the candidate’s spouse has some harsh words for their Democratic rival.

“Let me tell you just a little something that I was not so happy about. My son, like so many others, and today like the Palin’s son, have served on the front lines, helping keep peace and helping freedom for other people. I’m a blue star mom, just like Gov. Palin is. I’m proud of my sons, but let me tell you, the day that Sen. Obama decided to cast a vote to not fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body,” Cindy McCain said.

“I would suggest that Sen. Obama change shoes with me for just one day, and see what it means, and see what it means to have a loved one serving in the armed forces, and more importantly, serving in harms way. I suggest he take a day and go watch our fine young men and women deploy, get on those busses and leave with a smile and a charge.”

It’s the first time Mrs. McCain has taken such an aggressive stance towards her husband’s rival. She often introduces Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin, and she has spoken about their son’s military service, but she has not delved into actively attacking Sen. Obama.

The McCains have two sons in the military: their oldest son Jack is at the Naval Academy, and their younger son Jimmy is a Marine stationed in Iraq. Palin’s son Track is in the Army and deployed to Iraq on September 11th of this year.

politisite, I like this story. It's good stuff.

Obama didn't vote for it because the bill didn't include a timeline for withdrawl from Iraq. Quite understandable under the circumstances.

Cindy McCain needs to just STFU and look like the political whore she is.

You know you really should be careful on your attacks.  You really are bordering on the TOS.  Not the best policy to call a Pres Candidates  a whore.  I vote for a repremand as this is not the first time you have done this. I noticed in the past you encourgaed Obamas wife ti speak out.

You are just jealous Jim because McCain is tapping that and you aren't.  As political wives go she is a home run...intelligent, beautiful and rich.

Soon we will not have any money to feed our troops. What McCain and Cindy have been done to avoid the economic meltdown?

I can tell you exactly what McCain and his wife have done to avoid economic meltdown......they didn't borrow a bunch of money they could not afford to repay.  That is what they did.  And if every American had done the same there would be no economic crisis - period!

Now you just revealed the real guilty for this crisis: We The People.

If people didn't borrow beyond their means there would have been no sub-prime crisis and therefore no banking crisis.  It was greed alright but much of it was on the part of the self-deceiving borrowers as much as the lenders.

How did Cindy feel when McCain voted against funding for her son?  Did it chill her spine?  If so, it shows at least one McCain has a political spine.

Summary: The AP and the Los Angeles Times quoted Sen. John McCain's assertion that Sen. Barack Obama voted "to deny funds to the soldiers who have done a brilliant and brave job" in Iraq, without noting that McCain himself voted against bills that would have provided "funds to the soldiers" serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.

None pointed out that on March 29, 2007, McCain himself voted against H.R. 1591, an emergency spending bill that would have funded the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and would have provided more than $1 billion in additional funds to the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Senate passed H.R. 1591 by a margin of 51-47. Once the bill's conference report was agreed to by the House, the Senate again passed the measure on April 26, 2007, by a vote of 51-46. McCain did not vote on that version of the bill. By contrast, Obama voted for it on both occasions. President Bush vetoed the bill, citing its provision for a timetable for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

Moreover, McCain has voted against other legislation funding care for veterans. On April 26, 2006, McCain voted against an amendment by Sen. Daniel Akaka (D-HI) that would have "provide[d] an additional $430,000,000 for the Department of Veteran Affairs for Medical Services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans." In addition, on March 14, 2006, McCain voted against "increas[ing] Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes." On March 10, 2004, McCain also voted against "creat[ing] a reserve fund to allow for an increase in Veterans' medical care by $1.8 billion by eliminating tax loopholes." Obama voted for the first two measures; he had not yet entered the Senate when the third vote was cast.

The AP and Los Angeles Times articles continue a pattern, documented by Media Matters for America, in which the media uncritically report McCain's attacks on Democrats for voting against funding the troops, without noting that McCain has done so himself.

What came first, the credit card or the credit card holder? Blaming the majority of the people for the economic crisis shows someone with very little experience of the reality. The fat cats took a too bigger slice of the cake and their "free market greed" led to the collapse of the financial banks and institutions, without a care for loss of the investors money or retirement fund plans that many people saved for all of their hard working lives.

The issue is why the financial collaps happened.  It happened because people could not afford their mortgage payments.  If I buy a house that requires me to borrow more money than is prudent under my financial situation and I subsequently default on that loan it is my fault not the bank that lent me the money.  That is just commen sense.  Lack of any personal responsibility....plain and simple.
