Clean and Safe Drinking Water for World Water Day 2011

On the auspicious occasion of World Water Day 2011, I am one with all the people of the world in demanding for easy and equitable access to clean and safe drinking water. Clean and safe drinking water does not only mean the absence of disease-causing microbes but also a water free of toxic chemicals like mercury, cadmium, lead, arsenic, chromium, detergents, dyes, dioxins, etc.  For just a tablespoon of salt, people which don't have sophisticated laboratory instruments can use microbial bioluminescence immobilized in small paper-discs to check their own water samples for the presence of small amounts of inorganic and organic toxic chemicals. Clean and safe drinking water means healthy, happy and long life! Let us use microbial bioluminescence, the good blue light for safe drinking water, healthy foods and clean environment.
