You want a piece of me?

Here I am.

So, this means that over 2,000 fugitives could show up and clear their misdemeanor charges with some sort of amnesty. The benefit to the public? Reduce the backlog in the court system. Reward criminal behavior?

COLUMBUS, Ohio --

A program in the Columbus area this week has allowed more than 2,000 people with arrest warrants to turn themselves in and clear their cases.

The Columbus Dispatch reports 2,073 people with warrants for nonviolent, misdemeanor offenses were processed during Franklin County's first Safe Surrender program. It cleared more than 2,400 cases because some people faced multiple charges.

The clerk of Franklin County Municipal Court told the newspaper that among those processed, she knew of only three who were arrested for misdemeanor charges.

A city prosecutor says dozens more warrants remain in effect because some people left without seeing a judge.

The county prosecutor says 50 people showed up with felony warrants, and four were taken into custody. Court dates were issued for the others.”
