CLIMATE CHANGE EU, mountain farmers give up, 2 years no water
How to survive ? Could climate change happen to us? The "Berger", I met on my mountain tour told me his story, having no water since 2 years, Not knowing why ? Can I tell him what I know ? For sure not, reality would scare him to much. First make friends, share the sufferings together, feel better. I will return and report from the next visit. The story is about 150 rabbits up there, no water, now they are 2 rabbits left. Feeling a global responsability for the people that can not speak out. The Family farmers are now 3 to give up. Result the mountains abandoned. Nobody will ever know their story? Maybe he grants me a photo next time. Made me feel sad and helpless. At the same time the great United Nations conference Accra Africa, great plans, the small family farmers have not yet a voice, being on the fields and not on Internet. One fact on top.
No water means dry trees, burning easy during summer. This wildfire happened to our farmer last year. To save his house he did not find water. It is still there, it is a stone house "grange". During protecting his house our Farmer "Berger" fall from the roof. A helicopter had to come to bring him to the hospital. He feels well now, did not ask a question. With his eyes he asked me "Do you know what to do ?"
CLIMATE CHANGE MOUNTAIN VIEW EUROPE. Since 2 years not sufficient water coming, to keep little family farms alive. Before 1 meter snow in winter, now 10 cm. No snow water storage, no water in summer. Local farmers don't understand just give up
Story will continue: Next: The "Bergers" dry land, do we keep the 2 rabbits alive ?

Will be updated after dinner, sorry I am writing from France, meanwhile have a look to UN climate change talk Accra, probably they will never hear from the Mountain farmer giving up, since 2 years no water for animals. Sad but true http://www.nowpublic.com/environment/india-says-accra-climate-change-talks-may-end-bloody-battle

Bonsoir mettarca "j'ai bien manger une salde nicoise" merci pour Flag "Climate change, mountain farmers, no water", could be a place for you to meditate, no noise. I needed some time, have to learn that with the images and story, thanks for patience. The story, I decided for nowpublic, even it is a story of personal feelings with the "berger" I did not know the day before. But seeing us we knew we will talk. Have a nice day.

SOLARLIFE, I like this story. It's good stuff. Have you found any information on the cause of this? Is water being redirected somewhere upstream, or a damn has been created nearby? I am interested in seeing what the reason behind the lack of water is. Hopefully it can be remedied.

Thanks for Flag PlanMyGreen "climate change, mountain farmers no water". Your point: is there any water redirected upstream. The answer is no. To understand this, I needed 15 years. First Water in the mountains comes out of the rocks, true. It is primary stored in form of Ice and snow in the higher regions, coming down starting springtime. Stored temporary in the rocks, coming out of the rocks. In case of Ozone layer deplation, maximum in the european alps, with UV rays = 10 the snow gets shock melting, ice does not sufficient build up. (So it is the hole in the Ozone layer, not temp. increase). 1995, I made the first private investigation of the Alps, Ozone hole, ice melting, ozone smog. The awful truth, governments stopped any publishing not to disturb tourism. Same is true for fish population in the Alp lakes. Number of fish the same, but does not grow. Why? Ozone hole UV rays cause sun burning on the fish skin, UV's goes down 50m into water; fish tries to escape stays below nutrition zone, does not grow.
No snow, because of UV shock melting (ozone hole) no water storage in winter (the snow is the "tank"), not sufficient water coming down the rocks during summer, trees dry, forestfire, desertation; in the middle of Europe.

Great info and reply. Thanks for that.
One curiosity I have...You mentioned the fish population staying the same in the Alps. Is their some evidence to the fish population growth being stunted by UV rays, I would guess yes, as you mentioned burning of the skin. One thing I do know is that fish populations in lakes and ponds can only grow to a certain density before no more fish will grow no matter what changes. Ex. If the area only supports 500 pounds of fish, and you remove a 10 pound fish, 10 more pounds of fish will grow back either by the rest of the current fish, or a new one. Food sources, shelter, and water composition all dictate this.

PlanMyGreen, there is not to much fish in the clear lakes of the Alps. I tell you what the fisher men did on their own initiative. They installed bright lamps on the lakes surface. The night light made the fish ( attracted by light) coming up from the deeper zones into the nutriton zone. No UV rays during night time. This is no real solution, it works somehow as a basic night show fish hatchery. The Alps are the warning zone for UV rays. 1600 to 2000 meter high you get a full hit by the UV rays including reflection by snow.
