The climate does change that is a reality. - amended
I am certainly not a scientist I have however been blessed with a fairly good analytic mind and have lived for more than half a century. They say one gets wiser as one gets old.
I would be pretty stupid if I said the ice caps at the poles were never melting. As they seemingly are, by the documentaries I have watched much more so than they did 50 years ago.
The fact that there is more droughts in desert areas and the weather has certainly changed here in the tropics more rain pours down each and every year. We are seeing an increasing amount of flooding here in the Philippines.
All these factors could be due to fossil fuel and its pollution; we really have no need of fossil fuels what so ever. As there are many ways of obtaining power with out their use.
I would be stupid if I thought that a rising population does not affect pollution levels especial within our atmosphere and our blue seas. Here in the Philippines corral is dying due to pollution, illegal methods of fishing. The sea has been over fished in the efforts of feeding an ever increasing population. Many of the world species have been made extinct and there is a rather long list of species under the threat of extinction.
Mankind has become its own enemy, eventually if all this pollution get much worst within the next 50 years. With a possible global population build up of 12 billion we will be in trouble. It will be similar to the scenario seen within Harry Harrison science fiction book..
Make Room! Make Room!
We can be of course skeptic and bury our heads in the sand and say the scientist are wrong. But if we look at history and observe the winters and summers we have seen. Then noted the amount rubbish and pollution in our local rivers, that we may or have seen.
Then review how history shows that the global population, doubles every 30 years or so, there are now approximately 6+ Billion people on this planet.
The actions taken by china would mean in 20 years 7.5 to 8 Billion people will populate earth that is if China keeps its small family policy. 50 years will see us going into over load, 12 billion plus, then if China changes its policy Overload will occur within 30 years.
Soon most of the world leaders will be going to Copenhagen climate change summit to talk about pollution and solutions.
All I want is to breathe fresh air, that species are not threatened by extinction that also includes us. We need to clean up our act even if the scientist has got it and even if I have got it wrong.
The Danish government want world citizens to send there messages to the world leaders.
Lets not put our head in the sand, we never understand nature fully but we do know pollution exists and it make sense to me that all precautions need to be made to stop the worst scenario happening.

Of course we could start populating the universe, we have already polluted our moon and of course very space it self. Perhaps sling our rubbish and pollution across the universe. We are a very mucky race.

That's the way I was feeling when they shot the rocket at the moon to see if they could find "water particles". Nasty, nasty we are!

mucky race we sure are Babel =:-)

Hello world, you make it sound so simple Babel. Some great points.

Thanks I try to keep thing simple the most complex problems have normally very simple solutions.

Good sotry Babel.
lol - climate change is a lost cause really - lets face it.
Even if everyone did their bit how could that ever be enough... what putting rubbish in the correct bins lol.
We need to start closing factory's and power stations to make even a tinny whinny little difference.
We would need to change our life/ lifestyles as we know it.
What percentage of us could really do that?
at 19:43 on December 5th, 2009
Sadly, not as many as would be needed to help. But people need to wake up because it is not that far off if we don't change our ways pretty soon...

I actually see the population growth threat more of a threat of climate change and if the scientist are right both could put our race into extinction. More population more pollution more mouths to feed. More mouths to feed will be the main and most alarming problem if population is not controlled. In fact that factor could lead to wars, possibly that's natures way of over stepping such a problem. We become like lemming's

Yes but what if?
In fact we do place things in the correct bins, even here in a third world country people are cleaning up their act.
We make fertilizer from our biodegradable, our plastic is recycled in fact we don't send much to the rubbish tip. Bottles, class, metals are sold to traders.
Electric is Geothermal, how ever we do pollute, my motor bike is the villain, next year I go electric. Our human waste goes into a cesspit, that kind of leaks, can't do much about that other than introduce bio breakdown biological chemicals.
What little bit we do, keeps at least the local environment clean even though I live in a third world country I can make a small difference. Of at least trying my best to clean up my mess.
99% its all down to educating those that don't know how.
Manufacture can be cleaner and certainly power stations can be adapted where there is son, solar panels, geothermal wind power wave power see the need for no new nuclear power stations.
Head in the sand is not the way to be if we want to stop the oil and gas related wars. World citizen do have the power to see these changes made in my opinion we all should at least try.

I forgot that China has already imposed curbs on their population growth, however I have amended my figures to take that into account.

Indeed population growth is the greatest threat humanity is facing, scientist differ in opinion, but somewhere around 8 and 9 milliard people on earth is the utmost maximum to feed all of them and let have everyone fresh air to breath. Mother Nature is self regulating, and the natural disasters is one of her tools to keep control. However we people think we are cleverer and are able to regulate everything ourselves. The CO2 hoax is one those stupid premises. To have better impression what is happening in nature watch this video.
