NP Rank:
Clinton - Somalia : Obama - Afghanistan
Remember when President Bush was accused of manipulating intelligence to
further his political agenda by the left?
Seems we have a smoking gun in regards to a recent development in the
Obama Administration claim that "intelligence out of Iran shows a
greater threat coming from short- and medium-range missiles, and the old
plans were developed with long-range, intercontinental ballistic
missiles in mind" when in fact the exact opposite is known to be true as
Iran launched a satellite into space in February, a move that suggests
the nation is making progress on long-range technology. The country also
fired a mid-range rocket in May. And officials have warned repeatedly
that Iran is developing technology that will allow it to build a nuclear
weapon.
It is no secret that Obama has a lot of rings to kiss in regards to the
anti-war movement, and this latest move is proof positive that not only
did he lie about the intelligence, but that in order to obtain such an
assessment it is very clear that he in fact asserted his political
influence within the intelligence community in order to obtain an
effective sound bite so they he could do something that threatens to
isolate Eastern Europe by virtually handing it back over to mother
Russia.
Obamaphiles will no doubt fail to see the connection here to the obvious
hypocrisy, but that is not my concern. My concern is to raise the
awareness of readers who are not given to knee jerk defensive reactions
and who possess the will and desire to know the facts regardless of what
is and isn't reporting by the liberal left wing mainstream media.
Republicans React
"It will empower the Russians and it will scare the crap out of the
Poles, Czechs, Ukrainians and Georgians. It is a huge mistake," Sen.
Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said on FOX News Radio.
Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., called Obama's decision
"dangerous and short-sighted" in a written statement.
"Not only does this decision leave America vulnerable to the growing
Iranian long-range missile threat, it also turns back the clock to the
days of the Cold War, when Eastern Europe was considered the domain of
Russia.
"This will be a bitter disappointment, indeed, even a warning to the
people of Eastern Europe," Kyl said. "The message the administration
sends today is clear: the United States will not stand behind its
friends and views 're-setting' relations with Russia more important."
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., warned that the decision to scale back in
Eastern Europe comes at a time when those nations are "increasingly wary
of renewed Russian adventurism."
"Given the strong and enduring relationships we have forged with the
region's nations since the end of the Cold War, we should not, I
believe, take steps backward in strengthening these ties," McCain said.
"Scrapping the U.S. missile defense system in Poland and the Czech
Republic does little more than empower Russia and Iran at the expense of
our allies in Europe," House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said.
Re-Somalia?
In another move that has sent shockwaves throughout the military
community, it appears as though we have re-entered the Clinton era
policies of letting politics drive military decisions on the ground...
A McClatchy newspapers' journalist who witnessed the battle reported
that a team of Marine trainers made repeated appeals for air and
artillery support after being pinned down by insurgents in the village
of Ganjgal in eastern Kunar province.
The US troops had to wait more than an hour for attack helicopters to
come to their aid and their appeal for artillery fire was rejected, with
commanders citing new rules designed to avoid civilian casualties, the
report said.
Nothing is worse for the morale of men locked in combat in the direct
line of fire, than to be restricted from securing victory and saving the
lives of their comrades in arms because politicians back home created
the conditions for failure on the battlefield.
Mr. Obama you owe the families of those men an explanation, and anything
short of a full investigation into your policies and the role it played
in the deaths of those Marines is unacceptable.
