CN Train Derailment: Port Hope Fire Causes Toronto Train Delays

A CN train derailment occurred on Sunday, March 27, 2011 near Cobourg and Port Hope, Ontario. A fire also broke out in the area.

Approximately 10 to 12 CN Rail freight train cars jumped the track at around 12:20 pm local time. Several homes in the area were vacated.

The cause of the CN train derailment has yet to be determined.

VIA Rail's Montreal-Toronto and Ottawa-Toronto routes were delayed due to the train derailment. Officials state they are working on alternate means of transportation for passengers with reservations.
