Cocaine shipment to U.S via submarine
A drug-carrying submarine has been intercepted by U.S authorities off the coast of Central America in August of 2007.
The submarine was carrying cocaine worth an estimated US$352 million.
The semi-submersible vessel had been spotted by a surveillance plane, flying off the Mexico-Guatemala border, which guided a U.S Navy ship to the scene.
As the ship arrived, four suspected drug smugglers sank the vessel along with the bulk of its cargo.
The suspects and 11 bales of cocaine weighing around 548 kilograms were eventually recovered from the scene.links to story:

I posted the older version of story first it's to show that this is not new. The Cartel has been using submarines since about 2006.

Thank you Barry for the flag. This just kills me. When drugs are the Worlds number one illegal crime people will do anything for money.

CJaye, I like this story. It's good stuff. Wow, there is just no end to the methods and money these cocaine smugglers will employ to deliver their 'goods'. Submarine had to cost a lot!

CJaye, I like this story. It's good stuff. Don't you wonder how rich the drug runners could be if they put their ingenuity to constructive uses?

Thank you Barbara McPherson for the flag and comment. The drug runners make alot of money running drugs up into the hundred thousands a run when it's a big load. They feel they can't make that kind of money working and they are right. Easy money why work you know. No different really than the dealer on the street, they all work for the same people. These guys make more money in a month selling drugs than my brother in law who owns a car dealership.

My mistake... but it would be great if you publish the article about the recent bust. I'm from Mexico and sometimes we think US citizens and US gov doesn’t appreciate what the mexican goverment is doing to fight the drug cartels. You are so worried about a war taking place thousands of miles away from your borders, but not worried about the war that's taking place a few yards from your south border.
If you don't think this is a war, then you might not that in the last 8 years, under the administration of President Fox and current President Calderon, more than 10,000 people have died, most of them drug dealers, but lots of them were honest cops, citizens who were at the wrong place at the wrong time and honest politians who got killed because they were doing a good job fighting the cartels.
If you aren't worried about this, then you might know that DEA intelligence has detected that the mexican cartels are sending troops to be trained in Iran to use all kind of weapons and tactics. Narcos trained by terrorists living a few miles away from your border and seems that the only government who is actually doing something about it is the Mexican. So sad if you think that closing the border with a wall is going to stop the cartels and the war from getting to you. But if you, the people, won't listen to this, if you do not call you congressmen, your senator, they won't do anything and the big issue (I'm not saying it's not a big issue) it's going to be Irak and Irak only. By the way, the terrorists who participated in the 9/11 attacks, got into the country by airplane and by Canada, none of them got into the US by the Mexican border.
We all have to understand this is a war that we can all win; the first thing to do is not using drugs at all, otherwise, you are part of the problem and not part of the solution. This is a huge problem that affects both the US and Mexico, that is a fact, and both countries have responsabilities.

I left links to the story, I'm sorry if you were offended. I think most US citizens do appreciate what the Mexican goverment is doing to fight the cartel. But I also worry about human sex trafficking in Mexico. The cartel has their hands in this as well. I fight daily to help stop human sex trafficking and I focus on the girls and women who have been taken to Mexico and out of Mexico. I agree about people not being worried about the problem right here on our borders. Again I'm sorry for the way the story came out.
